Macroeconomics,

Macroeconomics

I teach general micro and macro economic concepts. I took both courses in college and received a good grade. I conducted study groups with my fellow classmates and helped them understand the concepts. I can do the same for you. I find that the reason why some students do poorly in economics is that they just focus on the theory and not the computation. It is one thing to understand what they are saying in your textbook, but it is another thing to actually put it into practice. I will take the time to explain these concepts to you and work out examples, so they become second nature.

I don't have formal training in public speaking, but I have participated in plenty of oratorical contests since elementary school. I have picked up plenty of tips along the way and will be glad to share them with you. I can assist you with being a more effective speaker and eliminating filler words, such as um and like, in your speeches or presentation. I also participated in a few Forensics competitions as a Novice during my undergrad and can help you with perfecting your deliverance of informational and persuasive style of speaking.

Elementary Education

Elementary (K-6th),

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored k-6th for the past 4 years, primarily focusing on reading skills and math. The main goal for these students is to assist them in achieving their academic milestones as described in the California state education standards per grade level. I also like to challenge my students so that materials that we go over become easy for them once they see it in the classroom.
Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I have quite a bit experience teaching K-12 mathematics. I'll show you it's fun and easy to understand! Most students who have a hard time with math usually don't have a good grasp of a foundational concept and then feel left behind when new material builds on the old. I'll help you tackle what you don't know and keep you ahead of concepts you'll learn in class. It'll becomes a review for you when you see it in class as opposed to foreign material you've never seen before.
Phonics,

Phonics

I have taught quite a few kindergarteners as well as other grade levels how to read or improved their fluency. I use various workbooks to familiarize the students with long/short vowel sounds as well as common beginning, middle, and end word blends. I am very patient and teach at a pace that is dictated by my students' comfort levels.
Reading,

Reading

Reading comprehension is an important basis for excelling in not only your English course, but every other subject you encounter; in math, it helps you understand and dissect word problems, you are better able to retain information in your Biology and Chemistry course. I particularly like to help students (k-6) who are having difficulty with reading. For the past 4 years, I have taught kids how to read through developing their phonics and blending sounds. With the older children, I have them go through passages and answer questions about the reading. If I find that they did not fully grasp the important elements of the story, I have them break down their reading paragraph by paragraph and develop an overall summary from there. It is a patient process, but I have seen great results time and again. Most of my experience with this has come from improving the reading levels of children through the No Child Left Behind initiative at their school. I bring along grade appropriate workbooks and have them read passages from which they answer questions about after they are done. Through an initial assessment, I can determine why they are having difficulty. Sometimes it is as simple as understanding the main idea, other times it's determining the author's tone or point of view. Every child is different in how they approach reading and I will help them get on the right path to understanding.
Vocabulary,

Vocabulary

Building a child's vocabulary is a key factor in his or her ability to fully comprehend what they are reading. I encourage children to have a pocket dictionary as well as a thorough home dictionary so they can look up unfamiliar words as they read. I never feed them answers but encourage them instead to seek for themselves. I provide a list of words according to their grade level that we can work through and allow them to not only discover meanings, but associate them with familiar ones already in their vocabulary.

History

American History

American History

I can't list off all of the important historical dates and not necessarily a history buff, but I can show you how to understand your reading. I find that most students struggling in this subject need guidance in reading comprehension and analysis; determining the important aspect of their reading material. History isn't about memorizing, but understanding what has happened and seeing how it influences present day. Usually when a student makes that connection, the information sticks.

I teach k-12 as well as college level algebra. I'll show you it's fun and easy to understand! Biology,

Biology

Biology is one of those subjects I love, but there is definitely a lot of information to sort through. I first took biology in 10th grade and scored a 4 on the AP exam. I went on to take quite a few more courses of biology in college (general, molecular, ecology) and did well in those classes also. I am not an expert, but leading study groups really helped me understand and retain all of this information. I'll show you some of the tools that I used to excel in these courses and help you get there as well. Tackling this subject is not a sprint, it's going to be constant reinforcement and take a lot of hard work on your part. I am not a miracle worker and there is no so called easy button. You will, however, have a dedicated tutor on your side to help guide you through.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Whether it is general chemistry or organic chemistry, I am the tutor for you. I obtained my undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. As the discipline suggests, I have taken quite a few chemistry courses in my day. I love the subject and I am fortunate to be able to teach the subject to students in a way that they can understand. I also took Honors Chemistry and passed the AP chemistry exam in High School, so if you are in these courses and struggling, I can get you through it. The great thing about chemistry is that there is order, most fundamental concepts never change so if you get a good grasp of it in high school, it will be exponentially easier for you in college.

I found that working through concepts and problems with a friend helped a great deal in understanding this class. If you have a friend in need of help also, have them join in. This subject is great when you can get a discussion going, since you able to get more than one perspective. I don't charge extra for a group of up to 3 in this subject!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Thus far, Etinosa is very knowledgeable about the subject and very pleasant to work with. I look forward to many more sessions with her.

Highly Recommended

Eti is a great tutor! She identifies the student's need and works to develop the deficient areas. In the words of my daughter "she explains the process and works with me until I understand." Her assistance has helped to boost my daughter's confidence and her grade in Algebra.

A Phenomenal and Punctual Tutor

I am a college student majoring in chemical engineering. I had the unfortunate luck of having a professor who cannot translate his engineering degree into teaching skills. Sadly, this man was the professor to the first chemical engineering course (Chemical Engineering Fundamentals) I ever had. All reasons aside, I did not do great in my first exam and the second exam was a week away. At this point, I was honestly considering switching my major or at least retaking the class the next semester with another professor. Then Eti came to the rescue. I contacted her one afternoon, and she responded back within the hour. We had our first tutoring session the next day. I learned more in that first three-hour session than I had with two months’ worth of lecture with aforementioned professor. In the end thanks to Eti's help, I ended up raising my grade from a D to one of the proudest B’s I've earned yet. Eti is punctual, easy to communicate with, manages to explain difficult concepts as straightforward and simple materials, and is a great person overall. There’s no reason you wouldn't want her as a tutor, and I am very fortunate to have come across her so early in my college career. I definitely know who to contact if I ever need help for future science, math, and engineering courses.

Great to work with, very flexible!

Eti as she is called for short helped my 7th grader with her pre-algebra. Since it has been about 28 years since I had to solve algebra problems I thought it best to call in an expert. I found that in Eti. She came and reviewed the curriculum and as luck would have it, she was already familiar with this online school (we are homeschooling). Eti and my daughter jumped right in and were able to finish 8 weeks worth of lessons in just under 4 weeks. My student went from and poor grade because of the overdue assignments to an "A." The best part of the whole experience is that Eti clearly explained the concepts, made sure my child was proficient in each area covered and even identified and suggested skill strengthening activities and pointed her in the direction of resources to help her continue to improve. There was also clear communication and Eti was flexible in working around our schedule. I know that I cannot effectively help my chid with this particular subject, but I can rest assured that if I send up the "bat signal" again, Eti will be there to answer the call and help us through it all.

Very Punctual and Great Tutor!

Although my son and Etinosa have had only about 3 1/2 weeks to work together. I appreciate her flexibility with the schedule and her patience. I am so glad that I found her through this service. I look forward to a lasting working relationship.

Did a Great Job!

My daughter told me she didn't understand the current topics in pre calculus. After a session with Etinosa, she had the skills to confidently work out the problems and get the correct answers.
