Montana State (Finance, Economics)
My name is Eric.
I specialize in Math, Finance, and Economics tutoring. I am currently working on a degree in Actuarial Science in Las Vegas, and already have degrees in Finance and Economics from Montana State University.
In high school, I struggled immensely with classes, especially math. I could not understand what it would be used for, or why it was important. I was not able to get myself to memorize formulas or factoids just long enough for the next test, as is often the case in public schools today.
I attended DeVry University as an 18 year old, but realized I was hopelessly behind in my basic skills, and soon dropped out. I joined the army for several years as a recon scout.
I started to feel the urge to do something "smarter" with my life, and decided to give college another try. I was accepted at Montana State University. I changed my major several times during my 4 1/2 years, as I realized that I liked everything, but couldn't major in everything! I had a difficult time in the beginning, but within a semester or two, I had regained everything I would have attained in 4 years of high school, and then some. I ended up majoring in Finance and minoring in Economics from MSU.
More recently, I have realized that what I really like is teaching others, especially those who have a tough time learning certain subjects. I feel that I have a knack for connecting with people in a unique way, and can often determine what the problem is and an effective solution for it.
I have helped dozens of men attain their GEDs who are in prison. Some had some school, others barely knew how to read. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone who was going to give up decide to take another crack at it. I have also taught higher level adult continuing education classes, one on Complex Systems and one in Calculus Applications. Some have told me that I have a gift for allowing anyone in my class, regardless of aptitude or background, to understand the topics and their applications.
I have a wide range of tutoring experience, from adults to younger children, and many different ways to connect with whomever I'm working with.
Nothing I have ever done yet has been as satisfying as tutoring, and I hope I can help you! My name is Eric.

First of all, at 57 years of age, I am by far Eric's oldest student. I'm an adult learner who at 50 1/2 years of age and with only a handful of classes under my belt, decided it was time to complete my degree. I moved through my AA, then BA and most of the way through my MBA in Public Administration fairly easily when I started Public Finance and ran into Excel and graphing and other things I had no experience with. I tried to use college students from a local university to help but that proved to be futile.
I then did an internet search for tutors and found WyzAnt and was impressed by the reviews I saw on Eric, so decided to contact him. And I am very glad I did and plan to contact him if my son needs tutoring in high-level math for computer science/engineering, or if I go back to school to complete a different Masters or even pursue a PhD. Long story short, 2 days ago (May 21,2014), I completed the Public Finance with a grade of A. And my MBA is now complete. Thanks Eric and hope the best for you.
Eric is a caring person who is patient. He has a lot of knowledge about finance, and life. I highly recommend this tutor!
I am a MBA student with a doctorate in a healthcare profession. The Masters coursework is a heavy case load. Eric made much of the material easier to comprehend, fun to appreciate and made the math very easy to understand. He was patient and even gave real life examples that allowed me to grasp concepts that are not supposed to be easy. Working with him make a class that originally felt like it would have been so difficult, easier and interesting. I was able to hold my own in discussions in coursework and I feel like the class was worth all the effort! Many thanks! I would recommend him to anyone looking for help in a challenging math, finance or economic course. He is a super tutor!
I am so glad that I found this site, and Eric. He is awesome! Once I emailed him, he contacted me right away. He has that natural ability to explain the subject matter in a way that made learning more fun. I no longer felt frustrated because I had a better understanding of the material. In addition, I was able to remember it, and apply it as well. Thankfully, I am now doing so much better in economics, and even got an A on my first test! I have to admit, at first I was nervous because I have never had to find a tutor before, but it was the best thing I ever did, and well worth my time and effort. I feel very fortunate to have found someone who not only cares about my learning, but worked with me around my schedule, and showed up when I needed him. Thanks again Eric!
Eric has helped me gain a more mindful interest in mathematics by using my personal interests as a bridge to mathematical concepts that are parallel in nature. Graduating from college and recently beginning studying for the GRE has been less of a struggle since I have began seeing Eric as my tutor. He is very patient and thorough in his approach which has made studying for the GRE while working not as intimidating. He has helped me become more abstract in my mathematical thinking, which will really help me when taking the exam for graduate school.
Eric has the patience of a saint. My daughter can be quite moody and he's able to get her on track and involved in the process.
My daughter was going to another tutor for several months with no results. She and I went through the profiles on WyzAnt and she chose Eric. We're glad she did! She has already learned more about geometry in one session with him than in all the sessions with her previous tutor!! He is patient and describes concepts in a way that are understandable for her. My only regret is that we didn't find Eric sooner!
Eric is friendly and patient. He kept sending text messages to my son and took him to restaurants and malls. He taught him in real situation. Eric is extremely supportive and caring. He makes English learning more fun to a beginner. Thank you so much.
My daughter was having a tough time in math then I found Eric. In the first session my daughter felt so much more comfortable with what she was working on because he took the time to explain the problem and make her understand it. I know that now she will exceed in Math because of him. Thank you Eric!
If you're looking for a great tutor, Eric is Fantastic. Everything we were looking for in a quality tutor for our daughter in math. This guy knows all the things she needed to know. He is very patient and will help guide you through the problem until you completely understand it. Overall, I definitely recommend Eric, as he is an outstanding tutor. So good, that we plan to hire him to tutor our son for his SAT's.
I had the pleasure of hiring Eric C. as my sons tutor. He worked with my son during a very difficult time. Mr. C. was able to put my son back on track in his Algebra class. He has a wonderful rapport with students of all ages, especially with the "at-risk" students. Mr. C. has a special talent working with students who need more guidance and support than those typically found in a traditional classroom setting. Mr. C. connects easily with students and his talent at teaching simple concepts as well as more advanced topics, they are both truly exemplary, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. He is extremely organized, reliable and computer literate. Eric C. would be a tremendous asset for students of all ages. I highly recommend him to you without reservation.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching GED classes and ACE classes for eight years. I have tutored dozens of people in qualifying for a GED, or passing the ASVAB, SAT, and ACT tests.
I have studied extensively myself, having passed and excelled in the SAT, ACT, ASVAB, GRE exams. I have a bachelors degree in Finance, and a Minor in Economics from Montana State University.
