I have run a volunteer adult reading tutoring program where I taught people to read and write, and taught adult English as a Second Language. As a volunteer, I had 20-25 tutors under my direction and coordinated a Corrections Program for eight (8) years. I coordinated for six (6) facilities, turning in reports for each every week. My training has been through Literacy Volunteers of America. I am also a LVA tutor trainer. I gear my lessons to the needs of each adult student and work at the students pace. I give homework and expect it to be done. I also give spelling tests and have fun while we learn.

She taught me earth science, atoms, matter, and space. She also taught me writing skills to help me with the proficiency testing for a high school diploma.
Ms.Carol ann was an amazing woman to meet. She was very informative and had great stuff to study for our upcoming class. I am so looking forward to our next class!
She is the best tutor I have ever had, very knowledgeable and patient. She has helped me to improve my writing and she is always willing to help. I'm taking English classes with her.
She prepared very well for every class and taught them useful things they needed to know about the money, market and food. Kids like her very much and they all missed their tutor Carol. She is a very nice and patient tutor who knows how to draw kids' attention and she also has a sense of humor that makes kids feel happy to learn.
Carol Ann helped tutor my son for his writing proficiency. She was patient and gave my son the confidence needed to take his test.
Carol has been a God sent. She is invaluable in multiple areas of teaching and correcting my English errors. She has shown an extreme amount of patience over a span of 3 years. She has also been inspirational in motivating me to improve pronunciation, grammar, tenses, and critical thinking as it related to time management. She is flexible and adaptable related to my school and professional schedule. She is always prepared for class and gives appropriate homework assignments. She was very helpful with several of my UOP class presentations, and she helped to ensure my professional papers thoughts and ideas flowed with consistency and made sense to the reader. It is my honor to recommend her to students that need help with English!
Carol Ann is a sweet lady and very good with my daughter. She is the first tutor that she has ever liked. We couldn't be more pleased.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I gear my lessons to the students needs. We cover grammar, punctuation and the student is expected to write sentences, stories or whatever pertains to their individual needs. We will dwell on problem areas to improve the students understanding and use.
I have taught ESL to small groups in a corrections setting for 7 years. Classes had as many as five native languages. Students were expected to only speak English while in class. I require writing and using words from the lessons in sentences. I also gear my class to teach things that will help each student fulfill their needs and everyday life. I also have done 1 on 1 ESL tutoring. I include reading, writing and applying what you learn in each class.
I gear my lessons to the students needs. You will learn verb forms, adjectives, adverbs, nouns and pronouns and be expected to use them correctly in sentences and speaking. Materials are given to the student for referral when not in class. Homework is given. Practice, practice, practice.
Reading usually will include grammar, word usage, and punctuation. Writing is also part of the homework. Story lines of interest to the student will be used to get a student interested in reading. All lessons are geared to the student's interests or needs.
Lessons are geared to the students needs. Words usage and writing are included in each lesson plan. The more you read or write the better you vocabulary will become. Homework will be given so you challenge yourself and improve on a regular basis.
