My name is Kimberly. I have worked with children my entire life. I am a natural nurturer and educator. Caring for and helping others is my passion. I have my BA in psychology and took education courses as electives. Below are some of my past experiences that apply to working with children and young adults.
I developed and implemented behavior based home programs for children on the autism spectrum for nearly ten years. My duties included observing learning patterns, strengths and areas in need of improvement, and then creating an education plan and curriculum based on those observations. It was also important to know the steps that would take the learner to the next level. I also have the ability to break down complex concepts so that they are easier to comprehend. Then, the parts are built back up into the complete concept.
I also have experience as a nanny, home daycare owner, mentor and tutor. Most recently I worked with two girls who are homeschooled. I helped them complete school work and tutored them in areas of difficulty. Time management and independent working were goals that we worked on as well.
I have a wide variety of experience. Some of my experience includes teaching yoga, consulting for children on the autism spectrum, being a company representative and creating, writing and editing consultation reports and other documents. I am also a life coach and love writing about life experience and writing inspirational material. I am well versed in public/group speaking as well as writing and editing.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to making a difference! My name is Kimberly. I have worked with children my entire life. I am a natural nurturer and educator. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
For many years, I taught children proper grasp of the pencil, appropriate strokes for each letter, spacing, sizing, etc. I start by teaching letters that are easiest to write and then work through the more complicated ones.
I have studied food, how the body processes it and the impact it has on our health, mood and energy levels. I also conducted wellness groups that focused on healthy aging and weight loss/management. I won the grand prize in a wellness challenge when I lost 45 pounds by changing my relationship with food and implementing positive self talk and love!
I am certified as a kids yoga teacher through Rainbow Kids Yoga. I have my 200-hour RYT through Tru Yoga. I am able to teach children of all ages, families, adults and individuals.
