Hi, My name is Scott and I am an active Freelance Visual Journalist who is willing to spend time passing on the knowledge I have learned through my education and my own field experience. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Journalism from the world renowned Brooks Institute in Ventura, Calif. Most of my short career has been spent shooting for small publications as a photojournalist and music photographer. I also have worked as the only Visual Journalist for the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Calif. The music academy is equivalent to the Julliard School of Performing Arts. I have also worked as a photo editor for Cornerstone Photography in Moorpark, Calif. I have a passion and love for photography. So I'd hope to learn as much from you as you would from me. I have published work in publications such as the VC Reporter, VC Buzz, Santa Barbara News Press and various online outlets including New Noise and 2dopeboyz.com. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have working knowledge of using Photoshop as a photographer. Working in layers to tone and manipulate images from simple neutralizing color balance to full on color corrections. My background is in photojournalism so there is a limit to what kind of toning is allowed in this specific field. But I know how to go beyond those limitations. In photoshop there are many was to reach the same result so it's finding what works for your style. And I will teach you how to create actions to help cut your processing time down.

I have experience in teaching photography in one on one, hands on situations with friends, family and word of mouth referrals. I am a firm believer in the hands on learning technique. Especially, as a photographer it's great to understand the theory, but if you do not execute it, you will not know how to apply the theory to your own work.
