My name is Evan, and I'm an experienced and enthusiastic tutor of many subjects. I love helping others learn challenging material and skills through innovative and engaging processes. I worked for the Princeton Review as an instructor of ACT, LSAT, and GMAT test prep (which required 97th percentile scores, teaching auditions, thorough training and continuous assessment), after majoring in Spanish at LSU and working with an adult literacy nonprofit for several years in Baton Rouge.
I'm now getting my MBA at Tulane's Freeman School of Business. I have a relatively light semester coming up, so I'm looking to fill in gaps in my schedule with tutoring appointments for students who are committed to getting real results. Although I'm new to Wyzant and don't have much feedback on this site, I can assure you that all of my students in the past have been surveyed and have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback.
My experience in the test prep industry allows me to provide top-notch tutoring in a more personable and flexible setting at a fraction of the retail cost.
I love working with students of all ages and backgrounds, and I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!
I've been thoroughly trained to teach ACT math with the Princeton Review. I've tutored individual students, taught small group classes and even taught full size classrooms at KIPP Renaissance H.S.
SAT math is very similar to ACT; I've had slightly less experience with SAT, but all of my SAT tutoring students have achieved strong results.
It's worth noting that I scored in the 98th and 97th percentiles for my ACT and SAT math scores, respectively.
As a Spanish major in college, I became well-versed in Spanish literature and linguistics, and lots of formal reading and writing.
But I also lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina for about 6 months, where I really became fluent. I've worked with many folks from Mexico and Central America, and I have several good friends from Puerto Rico.
So whether you need help with formal writing/reading/literature skills for class or you actually want to learn practical language patterns and vocabulary for a real-life experience, I can help you make big gains quickly.

I taught GMAT prep at the Princeton Review, but I also designed my own curriculum for a GMAT Boot Camp at Tulane's Freeman School of Business. My overall GMAT score was 750.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions; I'd be happy to go into more detail about the different subjects, scheduling logistics or any other concerns you may have. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked as a tutor and instructor for the Princeton Review for several years, teaching ACT prep as well as SAT, GMAT, and LSAT.
This requires you to score in the 97th percentile on the test you're teaching, then audition, train thoroughly and be constantly re-evaluated. I achieved consistently high score improvements and positive feedback from my students.
I'm currently a graduate business student at Tulane University, where I've created my own GMAT bootcamps and provided other private tutoring services.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from Louisiana State University, 6 months living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1 year translation work for the Orleans Public Defenders office, and countless hours speaking Spanish with friends, classmates and coworkers.
I also have several years teaching for the Princeton Review and Tulane Boot Camps, ability to tailor lessons and activities to an individual's preferences, styles, strengths and weaknesses, and drive to help clients achieve results and sense of fun and humor to make it enjoyable.
