I went to the College of San Mateo- California for Commercial Art, Painting, Art History, Calligraphy, and Jewelry Making, but I'm primarily self taught. I have an extensive portfolio and have been teaching art classes through galleries for the past 6 years and would love to be teaching more. I work with several mediums such as: Lino block carving and printing, Acrylic painting, Colored pencil drawing, and many types of sculpture including wood carving and found object assemblage. I have been accepted into several Juried shows and have recently received many honors and awards. I have also curated, produced and directed many art shows, benefits and parties with a strong art show and live musical format. I have many references in both, my art and show business careers, and would be more than happy and proud to supply them to you.
Being primarily self-taught, has given me the opportunity to thoroughly research all the different media that I have worked in and has provided me a unique perspective on how a student learns these different media.
I prefer to meet the student before teaching the first class to better personalize the lesson plan. I allow 2 hour cancellation notice and make up classes.
I can drive to the student or work from my studio located central west of Las Vegas. I currently work evenings so I am only available daily from 11:00 to 1:00. I eventually hope to be able to teach full time.
I look forward to meeting with you to personalize your lesson plan for your success and enjoyment. I went to the College of San Mateo- California for Commercial Art, Painting, Art History, Calligraphy, and Jewelry Making, but I'm primarily self taught. I have an extensive
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching beginning drawing privately and semi-privately (2 to 5 students) for the last 9 years in the Slo-Motion Gallery and at the Summerlin Art Group. I am an experienced artist and illustrator working in many different media and subject matter for innumerable clients in California and Nevada for the past 30 years on a freelance basis. I attended the Collage of San Mateo, studying commercial art, calligraphy, figure drawing, painting, jewelry making (lost wax technique), and ceramics. I am mostly self taught in my current art work of assemblage sculpture and colored pencil drawing. My teaching method involves taking the time to learn a students current skill level and tailoring the lesson plan to there expectations and giving them the tools to achieve there goals.
Painting has been a major part of my life for the past 40 years. Though I have limited experience teaching painting professionally, my experience in teaching drawing, colored pencil drawing with a painting technique, lino block printing, and illustration (involving acrylic painting), has made me experienced in creating a lesson plan and communicating with students and judging the proper method for teaching each individual. My experience in painting is primarily in acrylics but I am familiar with watercolor, and oils. My education has been mostly in the form of experience giving me the unique perspective of the student. My teaching method is based mostly on the individual desires of the student rather than the hard fast rules dictated by academia. Giving each student the ability to discover there own style while learning the tools they will need to develop as an artist is my main goal. Weather the style is realism or more toward the abstract, my students will come away from my class with the technical ability and confidence to create the art they desire.
