After teaching first grade for 16 years and adult ESL for four years, I have moved from California to Las Vegas, Nevada. I currently hold a California Clear Multiple Subjects Credential (expires in 2020) and am TESL certified (Teaching English as a Second Language).
I would like to tutor a few students in the area who need help. Maybe it will be you!
I have taught reading, phonics, math, social studies and science to first graders for 16 years. During my career I have also taught kindergarten, second, fifth and eighth grades, as well as English as A Second Language to Community College students. Additionally, I have experience with preschool aged children.
If you have a student who is struggling in elementary school, maybe I can help! And if you need some ESL tutoring, I can help you with that as well.

Linda has been tutoring my 7 year old daughter for a short time and we both love her. I love that she is a former teacher which really helps my child. She is an excellent tutor all around. Linda is patient, very personable, intelligent and makes the tutoring lesson fun, which keeps my daughter interested and focused. I would highly recommended Linda and look forward to many more lessons!
My daughter loved her first lesson with Linda. She learned while having fun and is really excited to meet her again. Linda is very professional and has a wonderful personality. She evaluated my daughter very quickly and was able to give me great feedback. I am happy to have Linda as my daughter's tutor and look forward to working together each week!
Linda has been great since the very first day. In just a few sessions my daughter's teacher already noticed an improvement and doesn't even know we hired a tutor. She's very patient and kind, my daughter looks forward to seeing her. From the very first day I knew she genuinely had my daughter's best interest. Thank you Linda you're changing lives!
Linda visited for the first lesson with our son, and we are happy and satisfied with the service. She was very patient and focused and our son responded well.
Very calm and patient with my daughter...also very prompt and a nice genuine person to meet and know...let along hire...we are satisfied!
She is very good at what she does. When she first came to the house my daughter connected with her instantly. She's teaching her sounds, how to blend, also sight words. Linda is a blessing. No one in the house has been able to keep my daughter's attention that long. She enjoys the lesson and isn't be ready for Linda to leave. I totally recommend her. She's the best, love her already!
Linda is doing a great job! My daughter is excited for her tutor lessons. And she is already learning much more after her 2 visits then my many times of trying to teach her! Thank you Linda you are a great teacher!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently hold a California Clear Multiple Subjects Credential (expires 2020) and have taught first grade for 16 years. During my tenure, I participated in 16 years of professional development in all elementary subjects areas, including reading, math, science and social studies.
Teaching English is my specialty! I have taught elementary school students as well as ESL community college students.
I have taught first grade for 16 years in California, where phonics is a systematic scaffold to teaching children to read. Once letter/sound recognition is understood, students can learn to begin to read CVC words and they are on their way to becoming readers!
Using diagnostic tools, such as the BPST, it is easy to see where students should begin their phonics learning. Whether it's with consonants, short vowels, digraphs, CVC words or blending.
