Having been involved in Music for so long I can't actually remember when I learned to read music, I bring a life-long love of music to my students. My musical performance history includes violin and piano, but when I discovered trumpet in middle school, I knew I'd found something I truly loved. I was worked hard at learning to play and soon was first chair in middle school and then for three of my four years in high school. I was also a requested soloist for military funerals while still in high school.
While I continued studying and performing in college, I changed my major to Business Administration and kept Music as a personal love joining groups and performing for pleasure.
Some of my favorite musical accomplishments include:
Performing in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade in 1977, 1979, 1980, and 1981.
Performing three times during Christmas Time at Disneyland as part of a Guest Band.
Performing as solo trumpet playing Taps at military funerals (following the 21 gun salute).
Performing in multiple solo festivals where I received the highest ratings.
Appearing as a trumpet player (with my high school band) in a national Kellogg's Raisin Bran commercial.
Soloing in Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. with my high school band during the Cherry Blossom Festival in 1979.
I hope to bring to my students a love of music, a love of trumpet, and an understanding of musicianship in order to help them not just become better trumpet players, but true lovers of music.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've been a trumpet player since I attended Sixth grade (in the early 1970's) and studied privately through my college years under Walter R. Larsen, a renowned professional trumpet player.
I have studied and performed all types of music for trumpet and participated in all types of groups including marching bands, orchestras, jazz bands, brass choirs, and even as a soloist.
I would have my students follow Arban's lessons and methods as well as including etudes and duets so they have a complete grasp of technique and musicality as well. My lessons would focus on mastering of the fundamentals, including proper breathing techniques, and building from there into learning and mastering different music styles and musicianship.
