About Michael

After finishing my undergraduate degree in Florida 2008, I moved out to Las Vegas. I decided to get a master's degree in secondary education and along the way have been a vacancy substitute (this means you get your class for the whole year) for classes that include 7th grade reading and math. Along with teaching and going to school, I spent two full seasons coaching a middle school girl's basketball team as well as assistant coaching the boys team. In my free time, I love to read and study statistics, making poker a fascinating hobby for myself. After finishing my undergraduate degree in Florida 2008, I moved out to Las Vegas. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I am a four year high school basketball player that also was a player coach for my club team in college. I have coached different age levels of youth leagues as well as two full seasons for a middle school in Las Vegas. During that time, I was also a volunteer coach at a high school's youth basketball camps.

Poker

I have been a successful poker player for the last 5 years, with tournament success as well as cash game success. I have won tournaments at large poker events at both the Rio and the Venetian. I own and have read many poker books and consider myself a scholar of the game.

Reading

I have a master's degree in secondary education to go along with degrees in both criminal justice and legal studies. I also took AP English all through high school and scored the highest of any student in my class in the reading comprehension sections of the AP exams.
