Hi! My name is Erica, I have been a local Las Vegan for 15 years. I am originally from Alaska. I love living in the Northwest, because I am closer to the mountains and it is more "country" out here with farmers markets and ranches, which reminds me of home. I love working with students, kids of all ages. I grew up teaching kids how to ski as a ski instructor, babysitting, being a camp counselor, and helping my Mom in her classroom. My Mom has taught for over 30 years, so I have learned a lot from her.
I pursued a Marine Biology career and environmental biology career, as a college intern, but decided it wasn't for me. Later I went into P.A school, but didn't agree with Allopathic medicine, and writing prescriptions, unless for emergency, and I encountered my own issues with severe migraines. This reinforced my belief in preventative healthcare. I changed my career to Holistic Health and finished getting board certified as a Holistic Nutrition, Wellness, and Lifestyle Coach in 2009. I have my own business and I also am a professional model and presenter, having done numerous commercials, billboards, special events, and trade shows over the past 9 years. However, now I am a stay at home Mom with a 2 and 1/2 month old and a teenager, so I am looking to spend more time close to home and also give back to the community.
I am well educated, with enough drive, ambition, and enthusiasm, to guide any student on the right path. I have a Bachelors in Biological Science from University of Alaska Anchorage with a minor in literature and history, some masters P. A studies schooling, and am Board Certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner through American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and Institute of Integrative Nutrition. My background and education make me an excellent tutor for reading, vocabulary, math (basic through pre algebra, algebra1), and for beginning biology and chemistry. I work diligently, use positive reinforcement, and believe each individual is capable of greatness.
My approach is very straightforward. If you are focused, and ready to learn I am ready to give you 110%! I am very patient and only require that you be on time and ready to work with any materials you need (book, paper, pencil, etc.) and I will supplement the rest if we need visual aides etc to enhance your learning experience. My time is also very valuable, so I require a 24 hour cancellation policy. I am very professional, reliable, hardworking, and willing to go the extra mile if you show me you are eager to learn and do the work. I am great with kids of all ages up through teens, and am willing to work with anyone, but my focus is definitely k-12. I also give progress reports weekly, and review at the end of each lesson.
I have been involved with helping K-12 as a ski instructor in my teens, in my mom's classroom growing up with projects afterschool, and in summer months as a camp counselor. Also, more recently, the last 3 years, I have worked with several schools locally doing nutrition programs in the classroom, and at Whole Foods/Sunflower Market, teaching k-6 my nutrition detectives program about making healthy choices, learning about food impostors, how to read food labels, and to share it with their families. Also after graduating with honors from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, I was chosen to teach over 200 students, 5 classes, about integrative nutrition, over three years, how to get started with their business, marketing, and personal development. It was a very rewarding, and gratifying experience, where I learned just as much from them as they did from me.
I look forward to working with you very soon! Good luck in all your studies!
Health and happiness always,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I feel I am qualified to tutor nutrition, because I have been a board certified health coach specializing in nutrition, wellness, and lifestyle coaching since 2009. I have my own business, Wellness For Life, and have taught over 200 student coaches to practice as well. I have worked with four local schools, teaching nutrition programs and given healthy shopping tours at Whole Foods and Sprouts. I have also been a vendor/given workshops at local events, wellness centers, and farmers markets. I graduated with honors from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and am certified by he American Association of Drugless Practitioners and SUNY Purchase College.
