About Edward

I have taught math and financial planning for 14 years at the University of Phoenix at Las Vegas. I love to teach and tutor students in Math. The process of learning the necessary steps of solving problems is the "Key" to learning all math subjects. I believe in showing the students the steps in an easy step by step method that allows the student to understand the subject and to remember how to attack the problem.

I have been using many handouts and examples for the student that makes learning the subject easier. We use the book as a basis, but using the handout makes it easier then having to look up each problem to find the solution.

I ran my own company for many years and found that by teaching my employees how to do the math makes them better employees and allowed them to move up in the company. I use the same steps in tutoring my students, bringing them to understand the problems easier and quicker to master the subject.

I am flexible on the time that I am available and like to schedule afternoons and early evenings best. I will teach at home or in the many libraries that are around Las Vegas. Send me a message to arrange a time.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I love to teach Algebra. I have taught Algebra at the University of Phoenix for over 11 years and have tutored the subject for many more years.

I use handouts for my students that make solving Algebra problems much easier and will always come to the correct solution.

I love to graph and show the student that there are only 4 formulas to remember to graph any problem.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is a continuation of Algebra 1 that covers multiple equations and graphing.
I have taught at the University of Phoenix for over 14 years in Computers, Financial Planning, Information Technology and Algebra I and II.
I use handouts for my students that help to solve Algebra problems much easier and will always come to the correct solution on how to solve polynomials.

I love to graph and show the student that there are only 4 formulas to remember to graph any problem, even with multiple equations.

Computer Science

I have over 25 years experience in computer consulting running POTTER COMPUTERS, LLC as president. I Installed, configured, and programmed many computer systems for clients in Ohio's 88 counties. I taught 3 years at the Ohio State University and Ohio University at Athens in Microprocessor Design and Database Design. I have taught at the University of Phoenix for over14 years in Computers, Financial Planning and Information Technology.

Geometry

Geometry is one of the oldest branches of mathematics. It involves many shapes and angles. How they are related and the formulas to solve them I have on a handout sheet that allows the student to find the correct one very easy.

One thing the Geometry requires are "Proofs." These can be hard to solve, but a few examples makes them easier.

Microsoft Excel

I have used spreadsheet programs since the first one came on the market. I have taught computers for over 11 years at the University of Phoenix including Excel, Word and Power Point. I ran my own computer company for over 25 years and have taught many employees how to use Excel, Word and Power Point. I have used Excel to help companies compute their Financial Reports for each month and for the year.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is the preparation needed for Algebra. I show the student the many necessary steps to find "X" with some handouts that show the exact steps necessary to find it. The student need to follow these steps in the exact sequence, but in the end will always find the solution.

I love Algebra and all my students tell me that my methods make it easier for them to learn and not fear Algebra.

SAT Math

I have taught math for over 50 years and have over 400 hours of tutoring at Wyzant.

Positive and patient!

From the moment we met Ed we were put at ease. He is a very caring and positive person. My 14-year-old daughter has been struggling with math for some time. Ed has stepped in and in a very positive and uplifting manner is helping her to overcome her struggles. He is teaching my daughter to organize her approach to her math problems, which is giving her more confidence. He is not only very kno
