I truly love teaching. I'm certified to teach English and Literature (ELA) 6-12. I have over 8 years of tutoring experience in multiple subject areas including ELA, mathematics, history, social studies, science, and ESL. I've tutored for both the America Reads and supplemental educational services programs. I have extensive training, including Orton Gillingham learning disability specific training and project based learning. I began my career in tutoring as a volunteer peer tutor and counselor. I continued my career as a lead tutor for JFK Tutoring for five years. While I was at JFK, I was had the opportunity to tutor foster care students for Childnet. I have a bachelors degree in relational communication, and have completed courses in child psychology and family communication. I minored in history, and also attained an associate's in English. I received my bachelors' with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude). I helped launch a project based learning school in Brazil, where I taught ELA, social studies, and ESL. $10 cancellation fee for missed sessions, unless 24 notice is given. $50 hour when multi-sensory approach is requested. $25 an hour per student group rate.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a certified teacher. I was a lead tutor for JFK tutoring for the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program in Bryan and Corr Elementary. I worked with the SES program for three years in both reading and mathematics. I spent a year as an America Reads tutor at Hollywood Park Elementary.
