About Elizabeth

I have taught diverse populations; elementary school, college, university, (The Lauder Institute at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania) and professionals such as attorneys, doctors and visiting professors.

I am an expert with phonics for both children and adults, pronunciation for professionals, and writing for all ages.

I specialize in non-native English speakers and currently teach writing at a college and a university and teach a grammar class at another college; I also hold a California teaching credential for grades K-6. I am extremely patient and realize that we all have different learning styles, and all lessons are tailored to meet the needs of the student.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I have completed all coursework in a PsyD program and studied this disorder. I have treated patients with ADHD and I am familiar with the difficulties and able to assist those with ADHD.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught elementary school for 5 years in Compton, California. I taught grades; 3,4 and 5 and special education tutoring.
I was credentialed in California in 2000.

Study Skills

I have taught students with learning disabilities and they have had the need to be organized (and were not) and I taught them. I have also taught remedial writing classes at a community college, and study skills were included in the course.
