I have always loved learning, and I want to share that experience with my students. After spending 16 years as a professional scientist in the field of medicine, I have decided to focus on helping my children and other students with their academic quest. I can take the pain out of learning new things, share my enthusiasm and make school interesting. I will teach you the academic discipline skills that will help you achieve your goals. I can even help you figure out what you really want.

Having had several sessions with Kerrie has been great. Over this summer, I have been studying for the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) as part of my ongoing graduate school admissions process. Worried that my long held fear of math would overtake me, I began seeking the assistance of many different tutors and math programs. However, after contacting and working through the math and verbal reasoning sections of my GRE review book, I must say that working with Kerrie has made me more confident about my own abilities in math and verbal reasoning. Kerrie is patient, kind, and explains everything very clearly, but also knows what to do when beginning a GRE review lesson. Would definitely recommend her!
Kerrie is very patient and will try to work step by step with you on your problems. However, to most who strive for an A in Organic Chemistry, it will not be possible with just a tutor's help, because an hour or two of one-on-one tutoring will not give you the practice you need for the tests. Organic Chemistry success is highly contingent on your teacher's penchant for putting tricky problems on the test, your coarse load, and your grit. In my experience, you need to practice the problems and learn the different angles you will be tested on. Most teachers/professors will lecture on the basics and test on the more challenging perspective of that concept. This is not a standard memorize the facts science course as most has lamented. I came out with a high B (missed the B+ by .02%) an A in lab due to a lot of time devoted to individual study. If you come with specific with questions and your notes, Kerrie will try to break it down. Sometimes, you try to break it down together. You will not feel alone with this hard subject if she is at your side.
Catherine thank you for this insightful feedback! Organic Chem is by far one of the most difficult courses to tutor at the college level, because the basic concepts are intuitive and the profound. Teaching the methods is straightforward, but as you mention, knowing their limits, applications, and results requires a give and take that depends so much on student effort. I applaud you for the amount of effort you put into learning this difficult material!
I am older than the average college student and have been out of school for over fifteen years. I enrolled in a college Algebra II/ Pre-calculus and knew right away I needed help. I decided on Kerrie as my tutor and I have to say she was a wonder to work with. She truly wanted me to succeed and scheduled my tutor sessions any time. She was helpful, very informative and had unique techniques as to real life explanations reference to material. If I ever needed help again I would use Kerrie. Thank you Kerrie, it was a pleasure...
Thanks, Travis, you were a pleasure to work with. Just let me know if you need help, I'm here.
My daughter has had highly beneficial results from working with Kerrie. She has gained confidence in physics and now continually gets high marks because of Kerrie's work. Not only is she a great teacher, but she also cares about her students. She puts in her best effort to make my daughter comfortable and is a very patient teacher.
Kerrie has been a wonderful Pre-Calculus tutor for my son. She is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable on the subject. I appreciate that she is always responsive to texts or email and is genuinely interested in making sure that my son understands the material and is capable of performing the work not only during their sessions, but at school and when doing homework as well. She is also willing to help him with his ACT/SAT math questions. I would recommend Kerrie to and parent who has a child that is struggling in math.
Kerrie is very patient with my 16 year old daughter. My daughter struggles in chemistry and Kerrie is patient and makes her work through her own work without actually giving her the answers. Kerrie is easy to reach and responds right away.
We have had three lessons so far with Kerrie. She obviously is way over qualified to be helping my 10 year old. That said, she is very patient, easy to get along with and, more importantly, is liked by my daughter. We have already seen positive improvement and will continue to use her.
Kerrie T. is an excellent tutor. My daughter was struggling with college algebra. Kerrie helped her understand it so it made sense to her! She was very thorough.
Kerrie helped our daughter improve her math score on her SAT by more than 50 points. Kerrie is very patient and provided a plan for taking the math portion of the test. She arrived on short notice and if we had worked with her longer I am sure the scores would have been even higher. We will definitely use her again and highly recommend her services.
Kerrie is an awesome tutor. She began tutoring my daughter in Geometry a month ago and she went from barely passing to getting a 96 on her last exam. When Kerrie first met with my daughter, she took the time to teach her basic concepts she wasn't grasping before moving forward with lessons she was doing in class. Kerrie is very patient and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her if your child is struggling in Math or Science or just needs some extra reinforcement.
Kerrie is extremely reliable and professional. She is helping my son prepare for the ACT and is zeroing in on the skills and strategies necessary for him to increase his score. Great tutor!
Kerrie is a great tutor! Prior to my experience with Kerrie I had a very negative disposition of my Pre-Calculus Class; yet, after Kerrie's tutoring, in which she showed the purpose of the topic at hand and filled in background information on the topic, I saw math in a new light. Additionally, Kerrie was able to make everything simple and easy to comprehend, especially the day before the test!
Thank you Kerrie!
Ms. Kerrie really helped me understand the material I needed help with so much better! She made the material a lot easier to understand, and made sure I understood it before we moved to the next topic! Math is not my strongest subject and was able to finish the class with one of the highest grades in the class! She is very reliable, easy to reach by phone, and worked around my schedule even at short notice. I would recommend her to any one needing help in math!
It was my goal to be able to increase my ACT score enough to apply for a scholarship to the college of my choice. We were limited by time constraints, but Ms. Kerrie made every effort to schedule tutoring sessions before my deadline. After meeting only 3 times, I was able to go into the ACT and improve on the areas that were keeping my score down. In the fall, I will be starting classes at the college of my choice on scholarship!
Awesome Geometry tutor! Very patient and makes subject matter easier to understand. She is highly knowledgeable and her enthusiasm makes the subject less intimidating. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored many students in preparing for the math section of ACT, and can help them with skills review as well test taking strategies. Having taught High School, I understand that students today are pulled in many different directions, and I can show them how to make the best of their time.
I have taught Algebra at the high school level for more than three years, and have lots of experience with different learning styles. I can help your child understand that math is relevant to their life, and even interesting!
I have taught Algebra I, Algebra II, and Precalculus in the high school setting, and have tutored students preparing for the ACT and SAT. I use a wide variety of tools and methods to help different styles of learning, and make sure that you understand one concept before moving on to the next.
