It's nice to "meet" you! I'm currently a middle school autism teacher with experience in elementary resource and a background in communications. I moved to Henderson from the Midwest in 2016. My husband is currently a middle school social studies teacher. Together, we have two spoiled cats named Hunter and Scout.

I earned a bachelor's degree in communications and marketing from Northeastern Illinois in Chicago. I've worked in video production, print media and theater. It wasn't until I started a marketing position for a child development program, Lil Kickers Chicago, that I discovered I wanted to work with children. I studied Inclusive Education at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. I earned my teaching license, K-8 Regular and Special Education, in 2018

I align math, reading and writing instruction to Common Core standards and IEP goals/benchmarks. I've attended workshops on standards-based (and standards-referenced) grading. I know how to unpack, prioritize and assess a variety of state standards.

My background in communications and print media allow me to make reading and writing instruction fun and engaging. I have experience working with students who also receive service from an occupational therapist (ex. visual-motor function, fine motor/handwriting, etc.) I have 2 years experience teaching reading (including explicit phonics) and writing to students with special needs in grades 1-8.

I worked as a paraprofessional in a separate classroom while earning my teaching license. Many students identified as having Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and many other diagnosis which presented challenges in learning. I am in the process of earning an Autism Endorsement for my Nevada teaching license.

I have a passion for teaching others and hope to share that with you soon. I'm flexible and open to whatever makes you and your family comfortable.

Amazing!

Ashley did so well helping my 11 year old with math homework. My daughter is usually shy at first and I could hear her talking and having fun in class! Thank you, Ashley! She enjoyed doing her homework with you.
