Western Governors University (Business Management)
Since I was a child, I always loved to learn. It wasn't until I was 18 years old that I developed a love and passion for teaching and tutoring. At 18, I set out on my quest to become a high school social science teacher. Since, I have obtained my AA - Social Science, AA - Sociology, and I will receive my BA Business Management in the Summer of 2016. I plan to continue my education and obtain my MA Teaching Social Science beginning September of 2016.
I have my Nevada Substitute Teaching License, CBEST certification and countless hours of first-hand experience. I will now list my experience in sequential order. From March 2015 until December 2015, I worked at Helix Charter High School in Las Mesa, CA. I taught Freshman students how to manage their time, I mentored them, and I tutored them if they needed academic help. In January of 2016, I accepted a position at Pinecrest Academy of Nevada - Horizon. I was originally hired as a Reflective Practice Substitute. I would substitute for teachers that would be partaking in professional development and I would aid teachers that had students with academic or behavior issues. In March of 2016, I was transferred to the special education department as the Resource Room Special Education Teacher. I taught K-8 students with learning disabilities. I have lesson planned reading, writing, math, ELA for every grade. Beginning in May 2016, I will spend the last month of the school year teaching a middle school math class. In the summer, every Monday and Tuesday, I will be teaching special education summer school at Pinecrest Academy of Nevada.
I have so much passion for this profession and I take great satisfaction in teaching students of all ages!
I aided a 5th grade math teacher from January 2016 until May 2016 and I have substituted a middle school math class from May 2016 until June 2016. CBEST certification.
From August 2015 until January 2015, I managed a classroom and taught students that had failed their high school English classes. From March 2016 until May 2016, I taught many K-8 students with learning disabilities how to read and write effectively. CBEST certification.
I have my AA in Social Science. I will begin my MA Teaching - Social Science (5-12) in September of 2016. I am very passionate about teaching history, government, politics, and economics.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
