I am currently a full time Instructor at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. I teach all areas of production. I have 30 years of experience in Radio and Television. I teach everything from Digital Color Theory to Advanced Editing and Compositing. I love working with students who want to do this. I have helped hundreds of students along the way. My current supervisor is one of my former students. I am quality driven and I know this industry and i know where it is going. I love being on the cutting edge. I have taught for 6 years compositing at Southeast Missouri State University and at The Art Institute for 3 years.
I have extensive experience in Major Market Television and Radio. I have also worked for ABC News and the Weather Channel. ESPN and many other national productions. I have mentored teachers on a national level regarding how to use video in the class room. I also have 25 years doing sports productions covering Division one Basketball , football, Gymnastics and a host of many more sports.
One on one is the best way to teach.. Video gets very complicated and I have great success with my students. To me it is an honor to teach and I love every minute of it...
I began my career as a musician and entertainer . I was a lead vocalist and trumpet. In 1984, I worked for KWK/WWWk Radio as a disc Jockey and after that I produced and hosted my own TV Show.. I graduated from Webster University and got a job at KODE in Joplin as a Weekend News Director. I came back to St. Louis and got a job at KPLR TV in St Louis with the St. Louis Cardinals. I moved on and got my Masters Degree from SIU Carbondale and then ended up at Southeast Missouri State University managing the Video Services depart. I have also was a stringer for the Associated Press covering the Presidential Debates in Desmoine Iowa , the Weather Channel, ABC News I have been at The Art Institute for 3 years.
I have mentored hundreds of students. I believe in having fun doing what you do and I certainly have . I am also very direct regarding the difficulties of the industry. I never expected to be teacher but find at this time in my life I have a passion for doing so oh and yes it is fun.. I teach all areas from Lighting to editing and love it. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 30 years of experience in Broadcast editing. And I am currently teaching full-time at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. I have earned a Master's in Media Arts. I have many years of teaching experience.
