University of Nevada, Las Vegas (Business and Comm)
I am an honors student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I currently have a 3.5 GPA and am studying business, communications, and entrepreneurship. I graduated high school with a 4.6 weighted/3.8 unweighted GPA and was the captain of my speech and debate team.
From a young age, my parents instilled a love of learning in me that I would love to share through tutoring. It's amazing to help students who were once struggling to actually love a subject. As far as experience goes, I have volunteered at local elementary schools teaching reading and vocabulary skills, as well as conducting individualized tutoring with an 8th grade student who went from failing to passing classes with A's and B's. I enjoy working with students of all ages and want to make a difference in their lives!
For 3 years in high school I was a speech and debate captain, which entailed teaching novice students how to effectively present speeches and construct arguments. I won various public speaking awards including qualifying to the national tournament in 2014.
I also participated in and won various spelling bee competitions when I was 13/14, giving me the ability to study new vocabulary in depth.
I am an avid reader and through my experience in high school and college classes, I am familiar with a lot of popular and classic literature.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was captain of my high school speech and debate team. Not only did I participate in public speaking events, but I also taught new students how to give speeches and construct arguments. I won various public speaking awards, such as 3rd place in the state and qualification to the national tournament. I also finished honors public speaking at my university with the top grade in my class.
