About Gabriel

Bio

I am beginning my junior year at UNR and will be completing a Bachelor's in Pure Mathematics. I am also pursuing a general music degree with an emphasis in recording and composition, as well as a degree in Spanish Literature and Culture. I have many interests but have always enjoyed much of the novelty found in mathematics, and moreover, believe a person at any age can similarly learn and find enjoyment in the vast subject.

I have been tutoring in math and science since 9th grade, beginning at Carson Middle School. I continued tutoring throughout high school and into my first two years at college as a tutor for the UNR Math Center. This has allowed me ample time to field many different types of questions and adapt to different learning styles. I'm always trying to cultivate the best possible learning experience by providing a friendly, patient environment.

From a very early age, I always had a profound interest in language. Perhaps it was the result of my dad's reading of The Hobbit and having me help to translate all of Tolkien's runes. It created a spark. I eventually decided to do an exchange to Argentina in high school, and it changed my view of the world. I recently decided to better compete my studies of the Spanish language. As such, I would more than happy to tutor both beginning and intermediate Spanish students. It will not only help them better achieve their goals, but I can further solidify my own knowledge. As Feynman said, ''If you want to master something, teach it.''

I have also been playing classical violin for the last 13 years and have performed at the Carnegie, Davies, and Disney concert halls. Prior to the pandemic, I was an instructor with Pacific Mist Music for about a year. I taught beginning and intermediate violin to several students. I do not use the Suzuki method for beginning violin and use a more open, tailored approach to each student. I try to keep a balance between pieces the student wishes to perform and exercises to improve technique.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Great tutor!

I needed to find a tutor who could help me with both math and Spanish at the same time and he’s perfect. He explains topics where it’s easy to understand and can help you make progress very quickly. Definitely the best tutor I’ve ever had.

Rare find!

From the start Gabriel had a challenge which I thought impossible via zoom to teach my son, but he actually made it work as if he was right there. Taught my son technique and made learning a fun experience where now my son won’t put down his violin. I would trade all the in-person teachers and others We’ve had if I could only go back in time. It’s literally like striking it rich on the lottery! I am telling you if you come across Gabriel, give him the first try... with his reasonable prices, you have NOTHING to lose but an hour! Thank you Gabriel!
