Hi there! My name is Jenna and I'm so excited for the opportunity to work with you on the current challenges you’re facing in your math courses! I can understand how daunting overwhelming math can seem at times and I want to help you through it. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Mathematics and Applied Science. However, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of my wonderful teachers, professor, classmates, and tutors along the way. Math can be really hard, but if we work together, I’m confident that you will only understand it, but master it!
I started tutoring my freshman year of college and realized how much I love helping people understand math. Getting to see a challenging math topic finally click in someone’s mind is such a rewarding feeling. I first started tutoring when I noticed my classmates were struggling with the material in our College Algebra course and started coming to me for help. I ended up hosting a study group for the majority my class as I basically retaught our lectures to them in a way that was easier for them to understand. My professor ended up noticing and he heavily encouraged me to change my degree to Mathematics. At first, I thought he was crazy, but then I realized how much I love math and how much I want to help other people understand math. So the next day I went to talk to my councilor and changed my degree to Mathematics! Since then I’ve privately tutored many high school students and college students enrolled in lower division courses. Besides tutoring privately, I also worked for a K-12 tutoring company where I taught all level of mathematics in group and one-on-one settings. I spent all of my years in college learning and teach math, so it’s safe to say I love math and I love teaching it!
Besides my direct experience in tutoring kindergarten up to lower division college level mathematics courses, here is a list of a few of the mathematics courses I took in college that prove my understanding of various mathematical topics
