I love teaching and tutoring students in mathematics. After teaching for 40 years in the classroom, I have been tutoring students privately for the last 5 years.
I especially love tutoring because I can focus on the needs of ONE student at a time. I strongly encourage my students to ask questions freely, as they arise, so that I can clear their minds to understand the concepts that I am teaching.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BA in Mathematics and a MS in Math Education. I have taught Algebra 1 for 43 wonderful years. I love to help students who wish to excel in Algebra 1.
First, I evaluate your work to determine the areas in which you need help. I reteach that concept and then give you sufficient practice to be sure that you have grasped the concept before moving on to new concepts.
I have received both a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Mathematics Education. I have taught PreAlgebra for 40+ years and have tutored for the past 6 years. I have found that PreAlgebra class is where a math teacher has the opportunity to stimulate a deeper interest in mathematics and where a student is groomed for the higher level math classes in his/her high school years.
