My entire life has always been centered around the environment, especially plants. From hobby gardening, to intensive research and monitoring, I have strived to learn the fundamentals of various types of ecology, biology, and public education and awareness.

I have always been a firm believer in engaging the community for the preservation of our natural resources. Because of this, I have a very strong communications background in addition to extensive scientific learning. This is reflected through my many public speeches, written work, and event participation.

After graduating from my undergraduate program where I emphasized in coastal wetland and kelp forest restoration, I worked for garden centers in Los Angeles and Dallas until I finally reached my employer goal, an agency that shares my similar values of a synchronous humankind and environment relationship, the National Park Service. I have worked in Yosemite National Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area as a federal employee. Other national parks I have worked extensively in include Joshua Tree National Park, Death Valley NP, the Mojave National Preserve, Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area, and a couple others. These opportunities stemmed from my work with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a botanist and as a graduate student.

In my spare time, I volunteer for organizations with whom I can share mutual benefit with. For example, I am a botanist at the Nevada State Museum and for NPS, an interpretation (education) volunteer with NPS, a Search and Rescue member down at the Lake, and a volunteer at a nearby animal shelter. For some “me” time, I like to write creatively, practice my visual arts skills, and continue playing instruments.
I loved school, however I work much more efficiently and with more joy in a personal setting. I wish I had more opportunities like this, but at least I can provide tutoring for others that may feel the same way I did.

Highly educated in life sciences.
Work experience in National Parks.

Botany

My thesis included the identification of 80+ desert plant species as a finished document, but dozens more throughout the two year process. Prior to obtaining my degree, I worked as a NV field botanist, requiring quick preliminary field ID followed by lab ID with multiple dichotomous keys, dissection tools, & stereoscope. I expanded my skills working for a Yosemite National Park revegetation crew & volunteer botanizing for the NV state museum. Other various jobs have conferred excellent knowledge of coastal, chaparral, & plains ecosystems. Despite all of this experience, nothing exceeds my passion for botany; it has been a lifelong hobby since childhood. Areas include: CA, TX, UT, AZ, NV, CO at an expert level; Australia, Caribbean, & SE Asia at an intermediate level.
