About Jeanie

My greatest joy comes from hearing a student say "I got it!". I have been teaching piano and guitar for over 20 years in both private settings and as a private and public school music teacher. I enjoy working with all types and levels of students.

My under-graduate degree is a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis on piano pedagogy. I have a Master of Arts and Master of Education degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.

I am passionate about students having a well-rounded and successful learning experience. Although music is my first love, if students are not able to grasp fundamental skills in reading and writing, there success in the future may be inhibited.

I hope to be able to offer you my knowledge and record of teaching success in your tutoring experience.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
