About Jared

I taught Chemistry for 13 years at a local High School, regular, honors, and AP. I have also taught Biology, Botany, Earth Science, and Anatomy and Physiology. Most recently I taught Nutritional Biochemistry at Kaplan University. I also taught a college prep study skills course also at Kaplan University.

I have been teaching in both public and private schools since 1968. My BA degree is in Biology with minors in Chemistry, Botany, and English. My MA is "Integrating Technology into Schools." I have five years experience teaching online courses

I have many years teaching Science experience and have taught everything from Earth Science to AP Chemistry. I taught an Honors level Anatomy and Physiology class for several years. I taught mostly Chemistry for my last 13 years in public schools. During that time (and before) I taught classes in Biology, Physical Science, Physics, and Earth Science. While working at the college level as an adjunct professor I taught a college prep study skills class and finished my career teaching Nutritional Biochemistry.

If you want to "be your best" meaning you are willing to work to achieve your highest grade levels, then I will do whatever it takes to get you there. The sciences can be a tough row to hoe but I can help you develop the skills to be successful. Through my experience teaching a college prep study skills class, I learned many skills to help students achieve success. At the time, I was thinking that this course should have been taught at the high school level or even the middle school level, not that the class was weak, but that middle and high school student need these skills even more than college students so that they do not have to take a skills class when they enter college. Honestly, I was known at one of the hardest teachers in my high school, because, as I told my students at the beginning of every year, my job is not to get you into collage, it is to get you through college. You are going to walk into that freshman Chemistry class with a few hundred other students and they are not going to care if you are present or not or if you are successful or not. You must learn to be self motivated now if you ever hope to "be your best."

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
