I have a passion for mathematics and love helping students understand such a great subject! It is very rewarding to help students understand content they thought was difficult and beyond their capabilities. My tutoring experience is extensive spanning over 30 years and includes subjects ranging from Middle School Mathematics through Calculus along with standardized test preparation. In addition, I have been a High School Mathematics teacher for 19 years along with 5 years as an Adjunct Professor at the college level. Also, I was an Executive Editor in the Mathematics Department of a major educational publishing company for 11 years where I conceived, wrote, and edited mathematics textbooks and ancillary materials.

My teaching awards include being named Teacher of the Year and being featured as an Outstanding Educator by Orlando Lifestyle Magazine. I have a deep love of mathematics and thoroughly enjoy tutoring all topics. It is a wonderful feeling when I am able to help someone understand something they previously regarded as complex or even unattainable. I do this by first discovering what it is my student does not understand so together we can build a lasting conceptual understanding. Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, biking, reading, and am an avid sports fan.

Mathematics courses I have taught include General Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Integrated Mathematics, AP Calculus, IB Mathematics SL, and IB Mathematics HL. I am known to be able to help students understand difficult concepts in a fun and relaxing manner. Mathematics did not come easy for me so I know what it is like to be frustrated and not understand concepts.

Outstanding Honors Geometry tutor

Dave is patient, funny, and encouraging. And he really knows his stuff. We have struggled to find a tutor who is really very versed in Geometry specifically--and Dave has that in spades. He encouraged my son to focus on what he DOES know and begin to work a problem or a proof from there. This is a very empowering way to teach, and has helped my son see math problems in a brand new way. I am grateful for the time that Dave has spent with my son in helping him tackle Honors Geometry!
