University of New Mexico
Hi everybody, my name is Irene T. I have two boys that I love so very much, and I am also a returning college student to the University of New Mexico. I have obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in sociology and a associates degree in pre-health sciences with a concentration in nursing. Currently, I am trying to finish up the nursing aspect of my college career that I put on hold to have my first child.
I love kids and love to learn. I have experience in tutoring at college level in biology and microbiology, but I enjoy other subjects as well. I am patient and willing to work with children that have learning or reading disabilities. In my experiences, I found that the student usually understood the material but was lacking in confidence. This is where the mommy in me begins to show because I will treat the student with the up-most encouragement and warmth.
I have a bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in psychology with a minor in sociology. With this degree I plan on using my class work and hands on experiences to meet each student at their level of learning. I have also studied various learning disabilities, and I am confident that I can help a child achieve their goals to the fullest potential.
Sometimes teachers become busy and are unable to teach the proper techniques of handwriting to each individual student. I have won several awards for my cursive handwriting throughout my school career, and I am patient and willing to teach your child the proper techniques through fun and creative ways.
Science is fun because it involves hands on projects, but sometimes learning to apply the steps of the scientific method properly can be difficult and tedious. It then becomes my job to help the child learn different ways to make the memorization easier so that the concepts are not so daunting.
History at times is usually known for tedious memorization and nothing more, however, when you approach history as a story passed from generations to generations it becomes more pleasurable. History has always been my best and most favorite subject, and I feel that with my excitement it will stimulate the same fire in the student that needs tutoring.
Please do not wait to contact me, I have an open and flexible schedule. I also seek to create a space where my students can learn and feel safe to express learning difficulties. I do not make claims that I know every little detail about every subject, but I can help with the psychological aspect and the embarrassment that one might feel with a learning deficiency. Parents of elementary students are always welcome and even encouraged to participate in their child's tutoring session. Hi everybody, my name is Irene T. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
