About Vera

I have been teaching in New Mexico public schools for 14 years now. I have taught 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade Science. Science includes a lot of reading and writing as well as some history and research skills. I am a licensed teacher and know what skills students need to succeed in school and beyond.

I also have children of my own and help them with their school homework as well as increasing their reading, spelling, and writing skills.

The most important thing is to read as much as you can and choose a book(s) that interests you. The more you read, the more you are exposed to unfamiliar words and phrases that will increase your knowledge in content and the English language.

I enjoy reading and learning myself and my goal is to help you read better, write better and become a better speller. My goal is for you to read to learn and to enjoy reading and learning!

I can help you with homework, projects, or just increasing your skills to become a better reading and learner.

What matters now is that you do the best you can so you can get a good job in life.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
