Greetings,
Thank you connecting with Wyzant and for considering me as your tutor.
Wyzant's goals and my goals are to provide a unique experiential learning opportunity, using the digital tool of the Internet, all the while providing a safe and secure connection with you.
Let me begin to tell you a little bit about who I am. I possess a variety of career experiences, which has allowed me a diverse level of knowledge, skill-sets, and expertise.
My primary career has been as a health care practitioner as an primary orthopedic surgical Physician Assistant, having been on staff at an distinguished medical organization in the Department of Orthopedics. In addition, I have worked in primary care and emergency medicine departments in rural and urban health care facilities, which included being part of the inaugural set up team for the Health Care for the Homeless project for my community, which was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. I have served in the military, as a enlisted and commissioned personnel, in medical occupations. I have also served as an adjunct instructor in clinical studies at a physician assistant training program.
In college, I majored in math[Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry], and Chemistry, as well as pre-med courses.
After a successful and enjoyable career in medicine, I chose a sabbatical from medicine to acquire state substitute teacher certification in math and science, to teach middle school and high school students. The subjects I am certified to teach are Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, Geometry and Earth Science. I also teach American History and history of Native American tribes in the US. I also acquired state certification as an athletic coach. I have coached middle and high school girls and boys basketball, track, archery and golf.
Other experiences which I have are as an associate producer for a nationwide daily Native American radio talk program and producer/director for a live television talk program on public access focusing on Native

Public Speaking

I have been a life-long educator/instructor, in the various professional careers I have acquired accreditation and national certification, as a health care practitioner, in the media in radio and television, and in education as a classroom high school math and science teacher. I feel I have acquired a exceptional caliber of instructor skills, [not only my own observations, but more importantly, from the reports and accolades of my colleagues, co-workers, and audience participants], in the classroom, public lectures, and presentations at national conferences and seminars. My current position as the museum cultural educator at a Native American cultural center/museum, has provided continued development and creativity of my public speaking skills, such as presentations to a variety of organizations, presenting to professional scientific and non-scientific national and global organizations, and since COVID-19 public health precautions were instituted for our organizations, I have created and produced a variety of Zoom and other online presentations and lectures, meant to meet the mission responsibilities of the organization I am currently employed. Although at this time, the primary focus of my public speaking centers on an accurate and creditable narrative of the history and cultures of the United States' Native American communities, also referred to as 'tribes', I incorporated science-centered constructs, which were paramount in the establishment of the diverse Indigenous civilizations in the Western Hemisphere and are elemental in the continuation of these cultures, not only today, but into the future. Whatever the subject matter, 4 principle core elements are essential for being an effective speaker or lecturer, they are; 1) be more than competent with the subject one is presenting, 2) present and explain why the audience will find the subject matter relevant, 3) engage with an audience, such that most of the audience will feel as it a speaker is speaking directly to them, and 4) create a learning opportunity, s

ASVAB,

ASVAB

To begin with, I am familiar with and have taken the ASVAB myself. It took the test when I enlisted in the Navy. It was a beginning for me into my medical career, which eventually provided me to opportunity to advance in rank, skills sets, occupational opportunities, and eventually providing me the opportunity to acquire my commission as an medical office. I know the importance of doing as well as one can on the ASVAB. However, if one does not do as well as one would like, it is a good indicator to begin one's effort to focus on those areas to improve upon.
