About Vince

I received my B.S. and M.S. in biology from New Mexico State University and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology with expertise in molecular biology from Montana State University. I have over thirty years of experience in academics and private industry. My extensive range of experience includes the disciplines of forensic DNA, human identity, genetics, microbiology, natural product chemistry and chemistry.

I have a strong commitment to teaching and particularly enjoy teaching highly diverse student populations. I served on the adjunct faculty at Glendale Community College for five years where I taught Biology 101 (Human Genetics) for non-majors and currently teach Anatomy and Physiology at Dona Ana Community College. The students in these introductory course vary tremendously in their abilities and experience, from young kids just out of high school to returning middle-aged students. Such a diversity of students pose a real challenge but also present a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences which enrich the learning environment.

While my education and experience demonstrate my commitment to academic excellence, I also feel that it is important to make learning an enjoyable experience rather than a chore. Learning should be a life-long adventure, not something that simply must be completed. Cultivating creativity, curiosity and enjoying challenges gives a student a much higher likelihood of success in any endeavor that he or she may pursue. If this sounds like the type of tutoring that would benefit you or your child, I encourage you to contact me to learn more or schedule lessons.

As the DNA technical leader for two genetics company, I was trained in population statistics, completed paper challenges using hand calculations and taught analysts the principles of of population statistics for human genetics. In addition, introductory population statistics was included in the human genetics course I taught at Glendale Community College.
