About Adrian

How do we know we know what we know? And how is the most exciting and powerful of that knowledge possessed by humanity spread to each new generation, who then build upon it in interesting ways with new tools and techniques? Today, the answers to these questions may seem to invite answers that are more complicated than ever given the many competing sources for the same - potentially invaluable - information and understanding. As a student, then, making the most of your energy amid thousands of educational offerings may very well require not only reliably accurate and comprehensive information and instruction, but also a simple, organized, and trustworthy system for delivery. I believe that under the auspices of WyzAnt, I can provide you, or your child, with access to such a system of delivery that includes flexible, accommodating, and friendly in-person tutoring in any area within the range of subject matter that follows:

- Math: Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Intermediate Algebra (MATH 120) , College Algebra (MATH 121G)

- Applied Math/Statistics: Descriptive Statistics, Introductory Inferential Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences, Multivariate
Statistics;

- Psychology: Experimental Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Cognitive Development, Child & Adolescent Development,
Abnormal
Psychology, Social Psychology, Memory, DSM-IV-TR and DSM-V

- Philosophy: Metaphysics, Ethical Theory, Formal Logic, Informal Logic, Development Ethics, Classical Philosophy

- Scientific Research: Research Methods for the Social Sciences (specifically, psychology, and Behavioral Health), from Literature
Review, to reporting your findings in presentation and/or APA style paper

- Advanced research manuscript formatting using MS Word/preparation for scholarly journal article submission

- Software: IBM SPSS, (help with SAS not currently available), MS Excel, and MS Word and PowerPoint for data analysis, visualization, and creation of complete presentations, respectively.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Programming

I have several years of experience with object-oriented c++ and Java programming, including from courses at New Mexico State University, and the University of Illinois at Springfield. Having begun my programming education in C, from which C++ and Java have descended, I'm qualified to both read, write, and conceptualize problems and their solutions in terms of these Languages. I am currently a Master of Science in Computer Science student at UIS, my emphasis being software engineering.

Java
