I have a few years of experience tutoring children and adults in various subjects and I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals. I have mostly tutored children (K-6) in the core curriculum, particularly in English. I have also completed extensive college coursework in K-12 teacher education and completed 50+ hours of teacher observation and assistance as a part of my studies. I earned my NM Early Childcare Certification through UNM-Taos. In addition, I was a peer tutor in college for 2 years, primarily in English writing. I also have a few years of experience working with developmentally disabled children and adults.
I have a BA in Psychology with several years of hands-on experience in the social work/ psychology field as a case manager, counselor, psychiatric technician, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), caregiver for disabled children and adults, disability advocate, and much more. I am passionate about psychology and love to share my passion for helping people with others who are considering this challenging but rewarding career path.
English was always my favorite subject in school. I love reading, writing, and sharing my passion for the language arts. I have tutored English at the elementary school and college levels for a few years.
I have worked with developmentally disabled children and adults for a few years. I enjoy helping those who are less fortunate than others and empowering them in the face of adversity. My background in Psychology and years of hands-on experience assisting individuals with special needs has helped me to become an innovative, understanding, and patient tutor for developmentally disabled individuals and other individuals with learning disabilities.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to learn more about me and schedule a time talk. I would like to ensure that all of my students feel that I am a good fit for them prior to making any commitments to working with me. I hope to hear from you soon! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with children and adults with special needs for a few years as a tutor, care-giver, social worker, disability advocate, and more. I have a BA in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and a solid understanding of developmental disabilities. I am understanding, compassionate, and patient with special needs individuals. I have also completed several hours of teacher observation and assistance with a Special Education Instructor as a part of my Elementary School Teacher Training Program. I have also worked with several children with special needs in afterschool programs for a few school years, helping them with their homework, social skills, and recreational activities.
