I grew up in Africa and the USA. My first French class was in Nairobi, Kenya, while at a British primary school. I spent my junior year of University in Grenoble, France as a foreign student. After graduation, I joined the US Peace Corps, and taught English to French speaking children in Cameroon and Gabon, West Africa. Since then, I have been teaching languages in International Schools: teaching French and English in Africa (Tanzania) and most recently, French and Spanish in Asia (Bangladesh).
I enjoy using songs from YouTube, online games and videos when I teach. I like to help my students gain confidence in their speaking skills because I feel that this can be a daunting aspect of language learning. I have taught children of all ages, more specifically from 6th to 12th grade.
I have a B.S. in French (Honors) and Secondary Education from the State University of New York (1974) and a MA in Linguistics and TESOL Surrey, U.K. Surrey University (2006).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
