The University of New Mexico (Spanish, History)
My name is Hannah. I am 24 years old and I love teaching and learning. I have a two year old daughter, who is half Hispanic, and I love helping her as she learns not only English vocabulary but also teaching her Spanish vocabulary.
I am originally from a small town in Ohio but have now lived in Albuquerque for almost 5 years. I consider myself to have a high level of motivation and dedication because I paid to put myself through school at the University of New Mexico and got pregnant with my daughter while I was still in school, but I never stopped taking classes and finishing my degree. In fact, while I was in school finishing my Spanish degree I was a full time mom, full time student and worked 20 hours as a waitress on the weekends to pay for my schooling and support my daughter.
Although I do not currently have my certification to teach, Education was my major for 4 years of the 6 years it took me to get my bachelors. I changed my degree to just be Spanish with a minor in history so that I could focus on perfecting my passion which is the Spanish language. But while Education was my major for 4 years I completed many education classes, including child psychology courses. I believe these classes have really helped me to gain an understanding of how to help children to individually learn and develop in their own way.
I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish from the University of New Mexico, I have completed over 100 hours of volunteer work when I lived in Ohio for a local elementary school helping to teach Spanish Migrant children, I have also spent time in schools in impoverished countries such as the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Montreal, Canada, working with women and children in those communities for weeks at a time.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a meeting to talk about potential lessons! I look forward to working with you by creating a fun, safe environment to learn and use the beautiful Spanish language. My name is Hannah. I am 24 years old and I love teaching and learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
