About Morgan

Math can be very difficult. As an elementary student I can clearly recall many tearful afternoons with my mom, trying to understand how the strange symbols worked. Skip ahead a few years, and many wonderful teachers and tutors gave me the tools I needed to understand math. Today I am an Elementary Education major at the University of New Mexico. I have a focus in math, and I already tutor several students, from middle school to college algebra. I love helping people understand math, and realize that no matter how difficult something seems when you are first learning it, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
I am the oldest child of six siblings, so I am comfortable working with children. I grew up in New Mexico and Texas, and I have experienced public school and homeschool. I am familiar with many different learning styles and the approaches to teaching students with those learning styles. I am very enthusiastic, and as I mentioned before, I have a lot of patience for struggling students, because I used to be one!

I have taken and excelled in math courses from algebra through calculus 180 at UNM. I am currently enrolled in several classes that give me more methods for teaching math. I already tutor many friends and classmates, some are in middle school, high school and college. All have made huge strides in understanding the material they were previously struggling with.

I would love to tutor you! I have a passion for helping students understand the subject I have come to love. And my hope is that I can make complicated concepts as simple and straight forward as possible. I have very flexible hours, and I am eager to help!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have helped my mother tech my siblings math while they were homeschooled, they are now in advanced math classes at school. I have taken several advanced math classes at UNM including calculus which require a firm grasp of Algebra, and I learned Algebra in Texas, which has one of the best education systems in the US.
