About David

I received a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering as well as a minor in physics from New Mexico Tech over the course of 5 years. Over that duration, I was required to take several math courses ranging from Calculus and differential equations to linear algebra and advanced probability. Through these courses, I developed and continue to have a high and deep level of understanding for any sort of mathematics. I continued to go to NMT for another 2 years after to pursue a master's degree in electrical engineering. During that time, I was a teaching assistant whose duties involved running and evaluating department labs. For each lab session I ran, I was required to provide lectures on electrical engineering principles and familiarize students with electrical equipment pertinent to completing the lab.
Because of my rigorous study in the area of mathematics and my experience as an instructor at a college level, I am able to convey mathematical concepts and abstractions clearly to students.

Not only do I believe I have the right skill set to be an effective tutor, but I also have a vision and passion that drives me to be a tutor. Undeniably, broadening and deepening the knowledge base of a population is a cornerstone to a progressive society. For this, teaching and learning is a life philosophy of mine, and I take as many opportunities as I can to practice this philosophy.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

Very familiar and proficient in areas of algebra I. These areas include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.

Similarly, I have a deep understanding in the areas of pre-calculus. These include trigonometry, functions, complex numbers, vectors, matrices, probability and combinatorics, hyperbolic functions, and limits.

Algebra 1

I am very familiar with the topics of algebra 1. These include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.
