About Robert

I have twenty years experience with the Albuquerque Public Schools and Central New Mexico Community College as a part-time ESL Tutor/Teacher. I was employed by APS from 1992 to 2001 and usually worked at middle schools. I was at TVI/CNM from 1999 to 2012 and worked with students from many different countries..

The first meeting I have with a student is a free consultation meeting. At this first meeting we will discuss your goals and what you as a student want. If you have your own material that you want help with, we can begin with that. I can supplement what you have with materials that will help you improve your English proficiency.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

1956 - 1962, I worked with ESL students on a Navajo Reservation.
1993 - 2002, New Mexico Secondary credential (TESOL endorsement).
1992 - 2001, I worked with ESL students in Albuquerque Public Schools.
1999 - 2012, I worked with ESL students at Central New Mexico Community College.

So far so good

my step children have just immigrated to the US and are not native English speakers. Robert is patient and helpful in getting them up to speed on their English.
