I have taught in a border town school for five years. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. I have been a lead teacher for grades K-5. I love to individualize instruction to best fit your needs. I am flexible with time and availability to fit most schedules. I have many teaching tools to help you as I have worked with many different types of students.
I enjoy working with different learning styles. Every student is an individual and requires a different style of teaching. This keeps me constantly learning alongside of each student I work with. I have just as much enthusiasm for the learning process as I have in teaching the content needing to be taught. It would be my pleasure to see your student attain his or her maximum potential.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In college, I took Gospels and Acts and also Old Testament classes. I have been studying the Bible since I could read. If I don't know an answer, I know where to look to find one.
I have taught K-1 for 5 years. I have taught 2nd grade summer school for two years.
I have taught Scott Foresman Science curriculum. I have also had to create my own curriculum.
I majored in English in college. I have helped middle school students understand English. I have experience in the Shurley Method. I have also helped a middle school teacher with some strategies to help students better understand English.
I have been playing the flute for 20 years. I co-taught an upper elementary/middle school band for 3 years.
Being an elementary teacher, I have taught a lot of grammar. This has been especially so in working with ELD students who have a hard time getting subject/verb agreement and many uses of grammar in the English language.
I love to read great books of literature. If I am not familiar with a literary work I will read it to know what it is about.
I have worked on phonemic awareness and phonics with K-1st grade for 5 years. I also have a book on phonics for teachers that I have been using to brush up on my own phonics.
Although I have only played poker for about 3 years, I have won almost 20 tournaments. I have come down to the final two about 50 times.
Having kindergarten through second grade students, I notice a lot of grammatical errors. I have also taught the very beginning stages of proofreading and editing a paper. I believe this should be done at a very early age.
Personally I am a Christian. However, in high school and college, I had to study all religions. In my first grade classroom, I taught a Unit on the Three World Religions. It was about the main three religions in the world: Christianity, Judaism, and Catholicism.
Math was always a struggle for me. I had to have a determined teacher who was going to use every strategy he could think of to help me learn my math. Now I have those tools to use and will use all my strategies I have to help you learn your math skills to succeed on the SAT math exam.
I have been a reading coach and have many strategies to help with pulling apart what you are reading and figure out what is needed for each question. I also have many strategies for quick note taking so you understand a passage better.
I struggled with study skills at a young age. I have learned some great study skills and time management skills to get my work complete. I also work with looking at a problem and finding important information. I also work with note taking skills and how to study for a test. I have taught kindergarten through first grade students how study skills can even benefit at a young age. You can use study skills far beyond the classroom.
Hiving ESL students, I have continuously been teaching different vocabulary and many different techniques for using vocabulary.
I have taught first and second graders to write a complete paragraph. I believe that you should learn a five paragraph essay as early as fourth grade. I also use many graphic organizers to help organize thoughts into a paper and help place ideas in the write order.
