Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have done much public speaking in regards to a fundraiser job I had. I also did public speaking in presentations of "writing skills" for a PH.D program at Nova Southeastern University. I have much experience preparing students for oral examinations; in addition, I have requested my students to do oral presentations and model public speaking for them as well. My experience in public speaking and presentations would qualify me to assist others in this field of public speaking.

Corporate Training

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

I have taught ESL here in Albuquerque as a Berlitz Instructor to employees of Intel from several different countries. I have also taught language prep classes for students who needed work on TOEFL. In addition, I taught abroad students in high school and in college. I am extremely aware of the difficulties in learning a different language and can help ease the student's fears and help them learn English.
Grammar,

Grammar

Nothing bothers me more than when someone who I consider educated or smart to any degree decides to say "ain't"! Conversational English and written grammar are similar in that you want to be the best at both. I am skilled in teaching this subject and also making it interesting. Imagine that -- grammar made interesting! I also understand that in our tech age, students tend to abbreviate, in texts especially. It's decidedly to your advantage to unlearn that style for the sake of a good future with a good school record, and a great job too.

I have much experience helping students with organization and study skills. I have always used study skill learning in conjunction with my other subjects. In my tutoring/teaching career, I always stress the need for "review and preview" and to find the best way for each student individually to learn the subject matter. I help students with specific study skill techniques, encouraging them to learn how to ask questions in class.
