“**Great tutor and very patient**”

I graduated with honors (cum laude) in Physics from Drexel University. Although I was trained as a physicist I spent most of my professional life as a nuclear engineer. I have a passion for engineering and physics, and math is the language of that passion.

Many who only teach math and science, don’t have the real world experience of

The good news !!! she got an A-, 92/100 on Tuesday's test.

Her math teacher is pleased, saw him yesterday afternoon at PT conference.

So, the current plan is working, and she now has an B overall up from a C last term in Algebra 2!!!

Allen started tutoring my daughter in early January, in person for the first visit, then online for the following weeks.

The online tutoring is fantastic and works well for our family.

Allen has been a patient and dedicated tutor for my daughter who's in Algebra 2 honors.

He checks in with her after tests and emails difficult problems for her to practice.

Using the weekly online tutoring, Allen's helped her increase her grade to one comparable with her other subjects.

The online tutoring is an economical and efficient way to help your child especially during the current winter weather.

My daughter felt a lot better after only 1 hour of tutoring on the subject of AP Calculus. Definitely will schedule another lesson. Thank you Allen! You were a grand help!

Allen made perfect sense where the teacher did not, he explained things slowly and clearly, and test scores have immediately improved. Would absolutely recommend Allen to anyone who needs a more clear explanation.

If you're looking for a tutor, I would recommend him to you. He's a great tutor. My daughter has been struggling with AP Physics and AP Calculus. After a few tutoring lessons, my daughter feels much more confident in these subjects. She's doing much better in her classes thanks to Allen.

Allen helped my son understand his precalc for the first time he learned formulas and was able to use it to do homework.

Worked on Algebra for over an hour and it was broken down to me in simple terms so that I could use this knowledge going forward for future tests and quizzes.

Allen helped me review my class materials and go through some of my assignments. he is very knowledgeable and patient. also very organized in his session. thanks, Allen!

Allen taught my daughter Calculus BC. It was her first class with him and he started right on time and was very pleasant and patient with her throughout the class. He explained the questions very well and overall my daughter was very happy.

Allen was able to help my son get caught up with his homework and understand the concepts that he had missed while sick from school.

Allen was great with my twins he came up with a plan to improve thier comprehension of algebra. We are looking forward to kids improving.

Allen was great! He was patient and explained problems well and he gave my daughter the confidence to solve the problems! thank you Allen!

An amazing tutor! Allen is knowledgeable and patient. My son had a better grasp on Algebra 2 after just one session. Easily worthy of five stars!

Allen is very patient, very knowledgeable and a gifted teacher. He knows how to identify areas of weakness at its roots and teach the student how to use logic to get to the answer. Very pleased.

Allen really helped me improve in calc 2. He worked with me through homework problems and really helped me understand the difficult concepts. After working with Allen my last two test grades were A's!

He provided testing material to see where my daughter needed helped. He worked to ensure that from the first meeting she was effectively tutored.

Allen helped my daughter who was not passing Math 103M at the local university. He's patient, concise, efficient & super smart! Tried other tutors, but none were as smart as Allen!

Thanks a million Allen! We'll be using you for any math problems we encounter with our kids!

Helped my son prepare for AP Calc exam. Helped clarify topics he was struggling with. Doing it via Skype offered more flexibile scheduling. Would use him again.

Allen was able to get right to work helping my daughter with her calculus. She told me that he helped her understand more efficient ways of solving problems. Her confidence is improving after only one hour working with him.

I gave Allen little notice and he was very accommodating. This was my first time doing a tutoring session on Skype and he was very helpful and effective. Thanks

We discussed Word Problems and Improper Integrals. Allen has a great teaching method. Allen has a strong ability to communicate concepts.

Currently my son is having lessons from Mr.Allen on Algebra. He is really impressed and says that he is an encyclopedia of knowledge. He teaches various methods of how to reach the solution of a problem. Extremely knowledgeable and informative.

Used calculus to solve real world problems. Helped prepare for exam. Patient, clear explanations, a real pleasure. Tutors on-line only (Skype) which was no hindrance at all. Keeps one focused.

Allen is the third tutor we have used, one tutor was also from WyzAnt, and one was pre-approved through the school. The other tutors needed to brush up on the topic and were nice but only moderately helpful. Allen is extremely knowledgable AND an effective teacher. He gives students additional ways to approach problems. His time is money well spent.

Appreciate Allen being able to make time for my daughter on late notice. Made valuable use of a snow day! Thank you Allen.

Allen, is knowledgeable and willing to help the student understand basic concepts. He also provides additional resources to help the child build their confidence. I am very pleased with Allen thus far.

Allen helped my son with Algebra 2. He was very knowledgeable about the material and could answer all my son's questions. He was able to teach a step by step process to solving the problem in a manner which allowed my son to understand better. Allen was a pleasure to work with.

Allen was excellent. He knew the material. He gave my daughter key information on when/why to use X formula. We will use Allen Blake again in the new year- 2016!

Allen was able to teach me an entire semesters worth of calculus in only a few days. He taught me step by step how to do each problem and if I did not get something he was more then willing to go back and show me again. Would 100% recommend

It was my first time getting tutored online, Allen put me at ease and patiently explained the AP Calculus concepts I didn't grasp at school.

Teddy, Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them very much.

Allen worked with Sara Kate whenever she needed it no matter the time. He also did extra things to help her like sending her a textbook to use!

My son said Allen helped him a lot with his questions. This is first time he had Allen. Very nice tutor.

I actually learned something. Great to have someone who wants to teach and not just collect a pay check

The session went great!! I told Allen, I wish I had a tutor like him when I was in school!! Of course we want the best for our son, and having another adult want that for our son too means the world to us!!

Allen is competent and committed, knows how to explain and motivate the student. He is on time, well prepared, and organized.

She is actually saying math is fun with Allen!! This is a huge accomplishment since she used to cringe with the thought of doing math. We are very fortunate to have such a patient tutor that can communicate well with our 15yo daughter!! Thanks so much.

I've had two sessions so far with Mr. B. and I already feel so much more confident in my calculus course. He takes the time to explain everything and break it down into simple terms. When I took my placement test for college, they placed me right into pre-calculus. I have only taken up to Algebra II and have never taken Trig. I knew the very basics. When I explained this to Mr. Blake he had no problems going back and explaining key components that I would be using in Calculus. He made me even more excited to solve the problems on my own. Very excited for our next session this weekend.

Our first meeting with Allen was very professional and full of information. Allen is able he take the fear out of algebra ll, and put concepts into knowledge. Thank you Allen, this is a great start to a new beginning.

Allen is very patient and easy to walk through troublesome issues with. I can always reach him when needed and he has been fantastic with timely responses which was important to me since I often try and schedule additional sessions. It's a pleasure to work with him!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

The subject of calculus covers a lot of material and usually requires multiple semesters. The topics include all of those in precalculus but in much greater depth. The central theme is the notion of a limit, and how it leads into the concept of derivatives and integrals. These are abstract concepts, and often difficult to grasp for many students, but they are the fundamental concepts underlying calculus and require careful, interactive presentations.

Precalculus introduces the student to analytic geometry and the critical notions of functions, limits, and derivatives. Many types of functions are studied; linear, quadratic, exponential, trigonometric, and others. Additional topics include vectors, polar coordinates, parametric equations, conic sections, and more. All of these require a firm grasp of algebra.
