In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in Special Education for 20 years. I have had many students who were classified as ADD/ADHD. These students have a short attention spa and need to move around more. The tutoring session should be broken down into short lessons with small breaks in between.
I have taught many students over the past 20 years who had Autism. I also tutored a boy with Autism for a few years. I have twin brothers who have Autism.
