About Bettye

I have a degree in mathematics. I am a retired computer software engineer. After retiring I substitute taught in the local high school. I have privately tutored for 10 years. My theory for tutoring is not to just work with the current assignments but to fill in the basic information which may have been missed along the way. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra is about putting real life problems into equations and then solving them. It is a branch of mathematics that substitutes letters for numbers. An algebraic equation represents a scale, what is done on one side of the scale with a number is also done to the other side of the scale. You can't get to higher math without taking algebra. Algebra develops your thinking, specifically logic, patterns, problem solving, deductive and inductive reasoning.
