Rutgers University, New Brunswick (Spanish, Italian)

I have wanted to be a teacher my entire life. I started teaching my young brother to read when I was 9 years old and I fell in love with sharing my knowledge with others. I have worked as a music lesson teacher, summer camp organizer, tutor, high school teacher, and adult language course instructor. I have had experience in many different educational environments and have enjoyed every job I have had. Now I work full time at a local high school teaching Italian and Spanish and I use a variety of teaching methods to help the students learn and manipulate language. My classes are focused on reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
When I began studying Spanish at Rutgers University, I quickly realized that languages were a key to a whole new world. I love to travel and being fluent in two languages has helped me experience many new things and meet amazing people around the world. After a year of studying the Spanish language and culture, I immediately registered for my first Italian course (I chose Italian because I am Italian American) and fell in love with the language and culture. I have traveled to Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Whether you looking to explore the grammar of a language or be able to communicate with native speakers, I can help you reach your goals. I have wanted to be a teacher my entire life. I feel very encouraged. Jessica gave me some exercises to work on before our next lesson. It's nice to have someone assessing me and directing me in my studies
We worked on past tenses, read dialog in Italian, and spoke conversationally. She is a very pleasant and helpful tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
