Teaching has been a part of my life for about 7 years. Much of that time has been spent teaching the Guitar and Music Theory. I am now branching out further into teaching about health and wellness, one of my greatest passions in life, and basic core knowledge for kindergarten, elementary, and high school students.
I have spent many years digging into holistic healing arts, going through rigorous training at a healing arts school. These experiences have changed my view of the world and how I approach teaching.
Holistic healing arts show that humans are simply a functional part of nature. So, a great part of my teaching technique is about self-inquiry, to discover. If you cannot play a music piece on your own...why not?
Is it that your expectations are too high? Does the student just need to relax, to let go of desired results? Or, perhaps it is just a technique that needs refinement? The teacher is there to provide important questions for the student. When the student arrives at an answer, the teacher can provide both clarity and sound, time tested advice.
With all students I am certain to address their individual needs, to nurture positive faculties that are innate in all of us.
I emphasize creative teaching techniques. I use music, make stories, whatever I feel it will take for a student to not only get it, but also thrive in what they need to do in life.
All humans are bound by the teacher-student relationship no matter what. No matter what, we have to learn. That's life!
Please do let me know if you'd like some guidance in your educational journey.
I am ear trained. I taught myself the guitar, until I realized that I needed a boost from a teacher. That is when I developed a strong sense of music theory. After that I decided to go to school for music, so reading staff became an integrated part of my musical approach.
I am an outstanding Sports/recreation instructor because of the energy I have invested into these topics. My instincts are different than classically trained health professionals. I understand there is a deep root to any challenge and I'm willing to go the extra mile to discover what that may be.
I entreat any potential students to reach out to me. You will be sure to receive a compelling ally in your process of learning. One of the most fundamental cornerstones of holistic health is that we all have the ability to heal ourselves, we just need to be clear about what kind of blockages there are- whatever might be hampering our natural ability to heal- to learn- to play- etc. If you want a teacher for playing, then I'm here for you! A teacher for joy, lets do it! A teacher for algebra.... Maybe! Ha. No, I love math. Feel free to contact me and see what happens next. Hey folks,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
With over 7 years experience in the restaurant industry at some of the best eateries in Asheville, NC. Joshua has a lot to offer on this topic. Beyond that he has studied Ayurvedic and macrobiotic styles of cooking. His preference is Vegan food for it's biodiversity.
Having played the guitar for over 10 years, this is Joshua's strongest instrument. He took off with it at an early age, really earning the respect of his community. Within two years he was playing out regularly, doing benefit concerts with great success. Most of his training is in Jazz theory, though his worldly tastes are clearly exhibited in his playing, creating the aptitude for any genre. Joshua has been a guitar teacher for 7 years.
