I am a Cornell University graduate and I have a Master’s degree from Long Island University in School Counseling. I am also a licensed associate counselor and have worked for a not-for-profit organization facilitating groups for children and adults with cancer, and for a special education school district providing therapy for children with disabilities. My work with children also includes being a SAT Critical Reading and Writing teacher, and a Kumon instructor. As an independent educational consultant, I savor my time devoted to researching colleges and blogging on college topics.
As an independent educational consultant and a former high school guidance counselor, I have worked guiding many students with diverse talents and interests through the college process. I have expertise in working with gifted and talented students, students studying the arts, and those with various learning and developmental disabilities, and ADD/ADHD.
I have a passion for writing and helping students craft college or graduate school application essays and personal statements that are well-written and unique to them. I will help students brainstorm a meaningful topic, or uncover material that perfectly suits a specific essay question. I will help students create a narrative that flows and captivates the readers’ interest. I will expertly help students edit down their essays and personal statements so that all of their words bear significance, and superfluous language and content is eliminated. In the end, the students’ essays will reveal something interesting about them, and be remembered!
I will work with students with patience, encouragement, and with determination to produce successful essays. I can work with students in person at a mutually convenient location, over the phone, or though email. My time is flexible and am available afternoons, evenings and weekends.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
