Univ of South Florida, Tampa (May 2011) (Master's)
I have recently finished my master's degree in chemistry. I started tutoring in 2001 at Rowan University as I was finishing up my bachelor's degree. I continued tutoring outside of Rowan even as I worked in the industry for six years. I have always enjoyed tutoring and the satisfaction of being able to help students understand chemistry as it affects the world around us. I use simple illustrations to teach the concept and process first before I apply it to the chemistry. During my master's degree, I was a teaching assistant for organic chemistry labs and for "Introduction to General, Organic and Biochemistry." I have also taken a course on methods and theories of instructional design - where we've learned how to teach chemistry.

I am very grateful for all the help Catherine provided to my son. He was taking a Chemistry class at his University and was "lost".
After few sessions with Catherine he was able to understand the topics and he got a B as his final grade. My son's confidence has increased to the point that he feels he is capable to accomplish anything he works for. Definitely, this would not have happened without Catherine's intervention. I would certainly recommend Catherine to any student seeking help with Chemistry.
My daughter has been using Catherine as a tutor for about three weeks and I can see an improvement in her chemistry work and her confidence about her work. Catherine is very flexible regarding time and location. I am very satisfied with her service and her professionalism.
This is my very first time having chemistry which I was nervous about, but once I had a tutoring session with Catherine I felt more confident about the subject. She was very patient with me and broke each part of the material down in will the you will understand. I will be using her again!!!
Catherine is a great tutor. She is very knowledgeable and creative in her teaching style. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing help with this, difficult, subject.
Catherine is a very helpful tutor who answered all my questions regarding organic chemistry. She was patient with my responses. Although I know she could have given me the answer to each practice question, she always gave me time to come up with the answer however long it took. However, when she knew I was heading down the wrong path, she would give me a hint rather than an answer. I also appreciated her teaching methods because she taught me to understand concepts rather than to memorize them. Overall, Catherine is a great tutor who is clear with her explanations and I definitely recommend her.
Catherine was very patient and accessible while she was my tutor. She is willing to go above and beyond for her students. She used a lot of visual aids and broke things down in lamens terms for me. I will definitely be using her for the next chemistry course I take.
Catherine is very patient and is very understanding of individual learning differences.
I really appreciate how patient she is and thankful that she knows, every student learns in his/her own time and "special way."
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my master's degree in chemistry. These courses are the basic building blocks to all other chemistry courses that I have taken. Additionally, I have tutored general chemistry (aka chemistry) for over 10 years. I am comfortable with both high school and college level chemistry courses.
I was a TA for 2.5 years who taught organic chemistry labs. In past summers, I have taught three students organic chemistry so that they will have an advantage when they take it in the fall. Additionally I have tutored quite a few students who were taking organic chemistry on campus. The majority of my business is tutoring organic chemistry for UPenn Students. However I do tutor this subject for students from other universities.
