I'm Mary Anne. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in English, and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. I will be receiving a Master of Science and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in May and October of 2018, respectively.

I am excellent at explaining complex subjects in ways that are easy to understand. I take time to make sure students understand the course material. I empathize with students having difficulty, and work with them to help connect concepts. As a visual learner, I tend to teach with that focus in mind, but I implement many different techniques to accommodate other learning styles as well. I find that it is essential to pepper lessons with activities to keep students active and focused.

I taught for several years at the County College of Morris. Courses included Concepts of Physics, Introduction to Computer Programming for Engineers, Engineering Statics, Engineering Dynamics, Strength of Materials, and Machine Design. I also have extensive experience as a teaching assistant in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department at Rutgers University. I had the privilege to teach seminars and a few large lecture classes, along with my duties as a tutor and grade. I am comfortable teaching small and large classes with students from a variety of backgrounds. I have tutored students of all ages both privately and through Huntington Learning Center, from elementary math to math and science test prep.
