I graduated from William Paterson with a degree in English Writing and secondary education, and thereafter went back for a certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities. I am a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor society, and have been on the Dean's and college president's list. I have a valid state license to teach English as well as degrees in all of my majors.
While studying for my education degree, all of my field experience was in an urban environment with very diverse learners, which aided me in becoming more flexible with my instruction. I have been tutoring since middle school, when I participated in the "Peer Tutor Program" in my town, which required me to go to a local elementary school to tutor students in the school building. For the past 9 years, in addition to studying and working in the corporate world, I have been babysitting and doing ad-hoc tutoring as well as editing student papers.
I am a hard worker and my determination is my number one asset. I can help your child live up to his or her full potential. I have experience with ELL students, I and speak fluent Hungarian as well as conversational Spanish. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a post-bac certification in Special Education, and have taught several students with special needs in an urban high school.
I have a B.S. in Business Administration, concentration Finance, and have worked in different parts of the corporate world for the past 4 years. I have worked in Payroll, Contracts and Outsourcing, Accounting and Intercompany Billing/Global Finance. During my time in accounting, I had worked as a Financial Analyst, directly under the Controller of the company, and with numerous departments, including Marketing, Customer Service, Buying and HR.
I had taken a discrete math course in my senior year of high school, in which I received an A. I had also helped and tutored my classmates in the subject.
Since I was in middle school, I have tutored elementary school students in reading, which is vital to the understanding and comprehension of all elementary subjects. I had even received awards from the school in which I was praised for all the aid I gave to the students, especially those that struggled with language.
I have tutored ELL and ESL students of various backgrounds, including Latin, Hungarian and Polish.
I had studied marketing in high school as well as a portion of my college years, while pursuing my degree in Business Administration. I have studied domestic and global marketing, and worked with these departments also while I was working as a Financial Analyst and as a Billing Analyst. After going back to school for an English/Education degree, I had worked for Marc Aronson, finding alternative ways to market books to potential consumer groups.
I passed the Middle School Math Praxis, and have been tutoring peers in math since 6th grade.
I have a certification in K-12 Special Education, and taught in an urban school with diverse learners. Part of my job was to determine how students can learn and retain the information learned once they left the classroom, as a number of them did not have access to computers or have the ability to study for tests because of their living situations.
