As a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Rutgers, my passion for knowledge furthered my education. I graduated with high honors from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University. I am certified in elementary education, special education grades K-12, middle school mathematics, Orton Gillingham, and reading specialization. As a current elementary school teacher, I continue building my knowledge on a daily basis. Nothing brings more joy than to watch my students learn and grow.

I have over ten years of childcare and tutoring experience. I have worked with children of all ages, and in all subject areas. I have also worked in many different environments such as day care centers in Warren, NJ, math and chess learning centers in Summit, NJ, and summer camps through the Boys Club of NY. I have worked as a pre-school teacher for several years in Warren, NJ and have babysat and tutored for several families over the years within this area. I have completed my student teaching in North Plainfield, NJ in a fourth grade inclusion classroom as well as a combination 3rd and 4th grade resource room setting. From then, I was hired as a paraprofessional working with two students who have 504 plans.
After that, I was an In-Class Resource teacher in a 2nd grade inclusion class, and a 4th grade inclusion classroom. This past school year, I was an In-Class resource teacher in 5th grade in North Plainfield.

During the summer, my availability for group or private tutoring is completely open. During the school year, I am available Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-7:30pm, although these hours may be flexible.

Please send me a message for more details. I look forward to hearing from you!

Common Core

I have educational experience from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University where I was thoroughly taught how to utilize the common core standards. I have student teaching experience with using the standards to create cohesive lesson plans. I also have 1 year of experience teaching and utilizing the Common Core Standards to create lesson plans for my students. The standards were identified in each lesson.
Elementary (K-6th),

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a certification in Special Education grades K-12. Throughout my college experience I have observed and co-taught in classrooms of all elementary levels. I have experience student teaching in a 4th grade inclusion classroom as well as a combination 3rd and 4th grade resource room. I was also a paraprofessional in a 2nd grade classroom. I currently teach 2nd and 4th grades and work with students of all levels.
Handwriting,

Handwriting

I have exceptional handwriting. I have taught students of all levels (Pre-K through 2nd grade different handwriting skills and tactics). I have songs that correlate to the way we write letters that make it easier for students who struggle with handwriting.
Phonics,

Phonics

Since the students I work with struggle with phonics and phonemic awareness, I have to teach the lowest leveled readers ways to enhance these skills. I use many decoding strategies to help students who are struggling. I also use a multi-sensory approach to teaching phonics so students can physically use their own bodies to help them read new words and enhance their fluency.

Special Needs

ADHD,

ADHD

I have a certification in K-12 special education. I have experience working with several 2nd grade and 4th grade children who suffer from ADD and ADHD. I am able to work with these students and come up with different methods to get them to focus. I understand that each child has different needs and requires material to be presented in a different way. For this reason, I use a multi-sensory direct approach to reach all of my learners.

I am certified in the Orton Gillingham approach to teaching children with dyslexia. My certification is held from FDU.
