Kean University Union, NJ (Chemistry and Earth Science)
The College of William & Mary (Master's)
Dear Prospective Student,
I have been teaching various high school and college chemistry courses for nearly 10 years, including Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Biological and Organic Chemistry, and General Chemistry Laboratory I/II. During this time, I have spent hundreds of hours helping students acquire skills to complete assignments and prepare for exams, such as the SAT Chemistry exam and AP Chemistry exam. My time has been equally divided between individual student tutoring and small group instruction. In either situation, I feel confident that I can help each student overcome their current difficulty in Chemistry or prepare for an upcoming exam.
During my teaching career, I have worked with a variety of age groups and skill levels. The two primary groups include high school students and college students, although I have worked with gifted middle school students too. My approach remains simple - listen to each student's requirements or concerns and then adjust the lessons to the student's individual needs in Chemistry. I consistently solicit feedback from students to ensure the tutoring sessions stay on track. The following is a list of adjectives that students have used to describe my teaching/personal style: very knowledgeable, kind, organized, and calm.
My educational background includes degrees in Chemistry and Earth Science. Most recently, I obtained a Master's degree in Chemistry from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. I also have a teaching license in Chemistry from the State of NJ.

Eileen went above and beyond to help my daughter prepare for the Praxis Science Exam. In two weeks, she covered biology, chemistry, astrology and physics. She went out of her way to find books and materials to help prep for the exam. She is the best tutor we have had in prepping for this multi-subject exam. I would absolutely recommend her!
Eileen reviewed alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and all the rules they come with. I really enjoy my lessons with Eileen.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
